should i book a disney meal plan this late into our reservation?

we are going to disney in january!!!
we were going back and forth on whether to go for a few months now.
I kept our hotel reservation and now that we are definitely going, i want to book a meal plan.
At this point, a lot of the places i would want to go for dinner are all booked up ( ohana etc)
should i do just the quick service meal plan at this point?
i am worried that we will have a hard time finding good place to eat for dinner- we might be stuck with the options that are out of the way for us - restaurants that are at other hotels.
we are staying at a value resort.

i know that if you keep checking, reservations open up...
we will be traveling with 3 kids, 6 yr old, 4 yr old and an infant.

this trip is so opposite of our first trip to disney- everything was booked way in advance and we were able to make our dining reservations at the 180 day mark. we used the meal plan that included 1 quick service and 1 table service..

I don't think you need to get the dining plan. Unless there is a free dining plan promo, I don't think the meal plan is worth it. We are not big eaters so it would be a waste for us. My kids are 4 and 6. When we get a snack, we may just get 1 or 2 and share.

Everyone has a different style of doing Disney but I personally prefer the quick service meals. I prefer to use that time to see shows, ride rides and watch parades. We usually do 1 character meal and 1 sit down restaurant per Disney trip. The rest of our meals are quick service. We especially like to walk and eat at different restaurants in Epcot.

Have fun!
