It seemed like political conversations got so much more traffic when they were posted on the main FHF board ....

Should lif have made a politics board ?
Yes I think a separate board should be for just politics. I think there's less traffic because people are over the drama that comes with Trump being President.

The board is there for people to use if they choose. The miscarriage board doesn't see much traffic either, but it's there for a reason. So, yes, they definitely should have made the politics board.

No. I don't think the state of our country and all the current shit happening shouldn't be relegated to another board. But god forbid people scroll past. People would rather keep their heads in the sand. Ignorance is bliss I guess.

I like having multiple boards because it keeps things more organized and less cluttered.
I know that I have no use for the diet and fitness board so I like the fact that I don't have to sift through a ton of posts on diets and working out etc when I'm on FHF.
Same for TTC.
I don't think it's a big deal to click over to another board to see a topic that interests you or that you have something to post about.

I don't think people are ignorant or putting their heads in the sand. I think the same ten or so posters would attack anyone who didn't agree or support their line of thinking, and people got tired of it. I still read the board occasionally, but no, I'm not going to comment.
For example, people on that board were up in arms blaming trump for the threats of attack on the jccs. It was crickets when that turned out to be the furthest thing from the truth.

In general, I have mixed feelings about the Politics board.
I can respect that people on both sides need a break from the conversation and a place to have light discussions.
However, I do believe there is a culture of ignorance that prevails among many in our society - people who cannot accept science, do not understand how our government works, and proudly tout uninformed opinions.
There is a difference between needing a break from heavy discussions and purposely inserting one's head in the hand.
I think there's still room to debate policy to a certain extent, but there is no logical defense of Trump's actions and behavior. None at all. While I believe in taking action more than venting, he deserves any invective he has coming.

I agree with this 1000%
The FHF board was only political posts anything else that was posts got quickly moved to the 2nd or 3rd pages. It was reallly frustrating.
People are not ignorant or sticking their heads in the sand. Some people myself included don't come on here for political opinions. I have my own opinion and don't need someone else pushing their beliefs on me. I am well informed and educated and don't need LIF to "educate" me further.

No but that has always been my opinion. I feel like several years back they went crazy with all these separate boards and it was one of the attributing factors to slowly killing this one.
Its all about the time, the politics would've died down just like it always does after an election. I just don't see the big deal with ignoring posts. No offense but this board isn't really crazy busy where its impossible to keep up and you lose posts.

I like the political board, but I do wish we had some other points of views. Unfortunately, many posters (on both sides of the aisle) can't seem to find their big-girl panties and contribute without name-calling, etc. I still go there frequently, because I enjoy political discussions, but it is now extremely one-sided.

What bothers me is that there are many posts on the front page alone that "belong" on other boards, but they stay. The second anything remotely political comes here it's like "MOVE TO POLITICAL BOARD NOOOOOOW"

I don't know why it matters if there was a separate board or not. For one, it's not like LIF is hopping lately so this fear of other topics on FHF being pushed down is silly. Years ago, that would've mattered but nowadays, this whole site is pretty dead. Secondly, as with any thread, if you don't like it and it doesn't interest you, just keep scrolling.
To me FHF is a "catch all" forum, post about anything and everything...........politics included.

ITA. Many times, there are two days worth of threads on one page. Years ago, there could be only two hours of threads on a page on a busy day....
