Ok...I live in VA and will be flying home to NY alone for my shower.... My first question is at how many months do you suggest I have my shower and my second question, when should I register according to that date? Thank you!

Re: Shower questions

I had mine when I was 28 weeks. I think thats a little early, but I knew there was a chance I could go on bed rest with a twin pregnancy. Good thing we planned early, I did go on bed rest two weeks later!!

We registered around 21-22 weeks.

Im having mine in the beginning of May. I am started to register after i find out the sex of the baby.

I think 2 months before your due date is good. As far as registering its up too you, some people register after the 1st trimester is over, and some people wait for the sex of the baby.

Re: Shower questions

i have started playing with registries now...there's a LOT to learn and research and i don't want to feel 'rushed'...

I know my friends already have a LOT planned already and i believe my shower is going to be in early March or very early April...

The theory that one of my closest friends gave me was that you should have your shower with enough time (and money) left to buy whatever you NEED that you didn't get....

To add to what the others have said, I believe at a certain point your doctor may not want you to fly anywhere. I think maybe it was after 8 months...I'm not 100% sure. Just make sure you keep that in mind with your shower date. Chat Icon

oo thats a very good point, you might need to talk to your MD, and she what they think , you might have to have it earlier than the norm.

Re: Shower questions

I was just talking about this with my DH. We live in NC and will have to travel home to NY for my shower. I'm due the 1st week of August and I think we've decided on late May for the shower.

I've already started playing with the registry. Honestly, there's so much we need and so much to research that I figured I'd rather get an idea of what I want now. I can always change things as we get closer, but I like to have a "base" at least. Once we find out the sex, I'm sure we'll add and change some items around.

Re: Shower questions

i think you should have your shower at about 7-7 1/2 months pregnant since you will be traveling alone. plus as you get further into your pregnancy, you will start to slow down..
and i would register around your 5 month mark.
you need plenty of time to make adjustments to your registry b/c you will change items left and right!! and you should give yourself a cutoff date to no longer make changes once the shower invites get mailed out.

good luck!
