Sick newborn, 1 month old
Landon woke up this morning with a really bad cold, and now Travis is starting to sneeze and cough. He is only 4 weeks old. No fevers for either one of them but I am worried about his lungs, especially since he was born 3 weeks early. I am calling the ped in the morning but wanted to ask did anyone have a newborn that got sick this young and what was the outcome?

Re: Sick newborn, 1 month old
Chelsea had a cold when she was four weeks old. I took her to the ped and they just said to use the snot sucker and little noses. She was fine. She had some trouble drinking her bottles because she couldn't breath through her nose but that was it.
AJ had the stomach virus at 3 weeks old and he was 3 week early. That was rough but he pulled through without a problem.

Re: Sick newborn, 1 month old
Both my kids were sick early on....a little over a month. DD was fine, used the aspirator on her nose and saline all the time......pretty much with every diaper change. Also sat in the steamy bathroom with her a few times a day. DS ended up with RSV but it was winter so I wouldn't worry too much about that.
Hope they all feel better!

Oh....they gave the antibiotics.....they weren't sure if it was viral or not but both kids had yucky coughs and the doc didn't want to chance it. They said the antibiotics were a precaution against pneumonia.

Re: Sick newborn, 1 month old
Thank you!
Landon is super sick right now and I am we all don't get as sick as he is. My throat is killing me. Travis is sneezing and coughing but he is eating and acting normally still. Hopefully he won't wake up sicker tomorrow morning.

Dominic started it too! He had a runny nose and cough. It was winter....I don't even know how we all got sick b/c we barely went out!!!!!!!
I hope they all wake up OK in the am. My ped really pushed the saline. He said it helped to clear out whatever was in the nose/sinus area. I think it helped a lot.

Re: Sick newborn, 1 month old
My kids got RSV around 9 weeks or so... I think they got it from my brother(12) who was visiting. In older kids and adults it presents as a cough and mucous not sure if that would include Landon...I would take him to get the nose swab
