Silent Reflux/LPR
If you were diagnosed with silent reflux/LPR, who diagnosed it, an ENT or a GI? Not sure who I need to make an appointment to see. Also, were you put on medication? If so, for how long? Everything I've read says that medication doesn't really cure this, like it would for GERD and typical burning pain from acid reflux, and you have to take it for the rest of your life. Please share your experience. Thanks!

Silent Reflux/LPR
My asthma/allergy doctor actually diagnosed it. He was doing an asthma test when I thought I had bronchitis he found my wheezing was more typical of the silent reflux than asthma.
He gave me a script for a double dose of Prilosec, and that fixed up my 'bronchitis' symptoms. He said if it didn't clear up to go visit the ENT, but I was fine so I never went.
I take a Prilosec generic daily, but mostly because it has the side effect of helping another one of my issues, nasal polyps.

Re: Silent Reflux/LPR
If you are still trying to get a true diagnosis, GI would be the best bet. Reflux is a GI issue. With the LPR though, make sure they talk to you about lifestyle changes (i.e. elevating the bed with a wedge (NOT PILLOWS), avoiding tight clothing, certain foods, etc.
GERD can absolutely be controlled with the right treatment. Its crucial that the correct treatment is completed to. GERD can cause changes in the lining of the esophagus and throat, lead to dysmotility, etc. If there is a reason behind your reflux, it definitely should be cared for by your GI.
Good luck!

the last practice I worked at was an ENT practice, they diagnosed it there, because it causes so many sinus/nasal issues.
