since you guys are my FB barometer... FB etiquette question
is there a polite way to not accept people as friends?
i have 8 friend requests from people i don't know and will never know. we have a mutual friend and that's it.
is it bad etiquette to deny their friendship?
i really want to keep my FB as a way to keep in touch with family and a few friends from my childhood.

I don't think they get a "rejected" notice, so if you just don't accept, they night never realize it.

I just hit the ignore button.
you can accept and then delete, but they might figure that out. By ignoring - they might forget.

If you deny a friend request it doesn't send them a message or anything so you can just ignore or deny.

I would just ignore it. I know that I've sent a few friend requests that never got a response. I just assumed that they are using FB for a tight knit family group, or that they set up a page and are never on. I never took it personally that they didn't respond.

If they sent you the friends request than the only way they would know if you didn't ezcept them is if they went to their friends list and saw where it says pending friend request and than it was gone maybe they would get the hint.
