Sleeping-Im having a VERY hard time with bassinet

DD is 2 weeks old. Week 1 we had noproblems wiTh her sleeping situation-in the bassinet with no problem and slept for hours at a time. Week 2 this kid hates the bassinet-everytime we lay her down she wakes up. I have tried to let her cry herself to sleep and she doesn't fall asleep but she's screamibg bloody murder. I chalked it up as he not liking being laid flat that she likes to be on an incline. I bought the SnuGgle me (I think its called) where it goes in the middle of the bed but that's not working either.

Has this happened to anyone? What did you do?

are you swaddling her? at that age, swaddling is key. Or try a positioner in the bassinet. I know DS did not like being able to move around so we had to swaddle him AND use an incline positioner in the bassinet.

Re: Sleeping-Im having a VERY hard time with bassinet

Sounds like my DD. I eventually let her sleep with me, just so that I can get some rest and continued to try daily to put her in the bassinet. Some days were easier than others. At 5 months I she is now sleeping in her crib. I remember those days. It gets better. Good Luck!

Try swaddling, if you haven't already. The Miracle Blanket works wonders! The same thing happened with my DD. She was fine for the first few nights in the bassinet, then, no dice.

We finally started putting her in her swing to sleep, and that's where she stayed for 5 weeks.

DD hated the bassinet, we put her in her crib right away and it worked great. Try swaddling if you aren't already.

my DS hated it too. He slept in the swing and was swaddled. You shoudl definitely try swaddling. I thought my DS hated swaddling but eventually he loved it. He was swaddled till 6 months.

Eventually we moved him from teh swing to the bassinette and then at around 3 months he went in the crib has has been ever since....even for naps.

This actually happens to everyone at one point or another.

I personally do not give up on putting them in the bassinet, I am not a fan of them sleeping in the bouncy, carseat, or swing. Those are just habits you will need to break later on.

Get a sleep positioner. Swaddle with the Miracle Blanket. Rock the baby till she is drowsy and then put her down. When my DS wouldn't sleep in the bassinet my husband would always want to put him in the bouncy - we did this a few times but I just kept trying with the bassinet. Now he sleeps in it (and naps in his crib) without any issues at all.

Yep...DS hated the bassinett. For a while he would sleep on my chest, the changing table part of the pack and play, or his car seat. anything but the bassinet. When i looked at the mattress, it seemed really flimsy so i thought maybe that was it.

we stuffed a regular pillow in there and it fits perfectly top to bottom and on the sides. DS also sleeps on his tummy and is fine sleeping in there now.

maybe its the mattress in there?

Re: Sleeping-Im having a VERY hard time with bassinet

DD at 2 weeks old also started rejecting the bassinet. IMO, I really don't think it's the bassinet, they are so used to being so snug inside us that it's more of the adjustment to the outside.

Anyway, I would get a sleep positioner and swaddle. You might think at first your DD will hate the swaddle, but in reality, they do love it. She may kvetch for a few minutes, but once she gets used to it, she will sleep much better. Please don't let her cry it out to sleep, she's much too young for that.
