Small Office - when do you tell your boss?
i work in a very small office. most of the time it's just me, but some days its me and my boss. i just started here about a month ago too.
i'm having a hard time deciding when to tell him that i'm expecting. i'm 8 weeks.
i wear these atrociously large baby-doll like tops. not sure how much longer i can "hide" it.
when would you say something?
TIA!

I know how you feel. Iam about 8 weeks and iam already starting to show. I have a doctors appointment Thursday, so if all is well then I will be telling them on Friday. I dont know why I feel so scared to tell them!

Re: Small Office - when do you tell your boss?
I work in a small office too, only 4 people including my boss. I felt I had to tell the day after my 6 week appt. I was showing, I know I was just bloated but I couldnt even suck in!
I dont really know what to tell you bc you've only been there a month, but they definately can't do anything about it, based on your pregnancy. If you didnt go to the dr yet I would wait until after that. It's not like you did anything wrong, your having a baby!! GL!

Re: Small Office - when do you tell your boss?
I work from home, but see my bosses occassionally at meetings and so forth. I told them at 16 weeks.
This may sound a little sexist so forgive me, but do you work for a man or woman? In my experince, men don't notice the baby bumps as quickly as females do. I thought i was huge at 16 weeks, but my bosses (males) truly had no idea, yet my girlfriends kept saying to me, how did they NOT know.

Re: Small Office - when do you tell your boss?
hhmmmm - interesting. my boss is a man, but there are women here who do not come in but once a week. i see the cleaning lady every day and she has a BIG mouth ( i heard from the person i replaced). and she looks me up & down every single day. no manners is what it is, but i suspect she'll suspect soon enough.

Re: Small Office - when do you tell your boss?
I am 9 weeks and have my last RE appointment tomorrow and my first ob-gyn appointment next week when I will be 10 weeks.
I do not work in a small office, but I have had a lot of complications which has caused me to go to a lot of doctor's appointments during work. I really think it would be easier if they knew!
My plan is to tell at some point after my first ob-gyn appointment when I am 10 or 11 weeks.

Re: Small Office - when do you tell your boss?
with my last pregnancy my boss figuerd it out on her own at 5.5 weeks.
i was actually glad she knew b/c god forbid anything went wrong i know she would have been incredibly supportive.
but i work for the county, and the women i work with are giving birth left and right so i was never afraid of her reaction.
i am not the type to keep it a secret. i think it depends on how you are.

i guess that's why i feel so awkward about it. i do feel like i'm keeping a secret and like i'm being dishonest in some way. the longer i wait, the more i feel like i'm being dishonest, but at the same time, i too want to wait 10-12 weeks to go "public".
my brother & mother both think i'm nuts for being so quiet about it. they are the types to tell the world about everything. but i'm nervous b/c of the percentages and...well, you know.

Re: Small Office - when do you tell your boss?
I told my boss really early, like 6 weeks. I was really sick at the beginning and we were leaving for a vacation and I didn't want her to think I was just slacking.
