Small Triumph to Share!
To many parents, this would sound like nothing to celebrate, but DS did something last night that was big for him.
One of his problem areas is rigidity and resistance to anything different or new. So, Dairy Barn. There are two lanes, and we usually go to the closer lane. If it was taken, and we went to the next lane, he would burst into tears, and usually it set off a pre-dinner jag of hysterics. And while I try to encourage change in routines, this is one I haven't felt is worth trying given the results.
So last night, my mind was wandering, and I went into the different lane without warning him. He was fine. Absolutely fine. No tears. I was amazed.
So I wanted to share here. It was a good step for DS.

You have to celebrate those small victories, because those are the ones that make your day to day so much easier.

Awwww, thanks for all the congratulations! It's nice to hear, and I knew you guys would appreciate something like this.
Of course, he still resisits change in other ways and probably will always have difficulty with it on some level. But this was an encouraging step.
