Only a non-smoker would try to tell you that smoking while driving is a distraction. It's a bunch of BS as far as I'm concerned.

Im a non smoker and I agree. Chat Icon

not necessarily...i have seen first hand why cigarette smoking is a distraction....both of my parents were smokers and my dad has dropped a few on his lap Chat Icon

And dont get me started on make up application in the car! Chat Icon Thats the worst!

You know what always scares me? Sneezing in the car. You have to close your eyes and I always think about how people say an accident only takes a second.

I actually take my foot of the gas for a second when I sneeze just in case.

Re: Smoking in your car

I don't think so. It's not any more distracting than eating, drinking, reading a map, talking on a phone (with a headset is still distracting) and unless they ban everything, which they can't, they shouldn't ban smoking

What about taking your eyes off the road to look at what station you turned to a$$hole.

What's with the "A$$hole" comment?

The a$$hole comment is Kristen's way of making herself feel "cool" with her life. Chat Icon

And Kristen... has it ever occured to you that you can cycle through all your presets with steering wheel controls? All you gotta do is hit one button and it jumps to your next saved station.

Not only did I know what stations I had memorized (cause hell I put them there)... in time I figured out what order they were in.

If I have six memorized presets... and I wanted to go from preset four to preset one... you click THREE times! And here is the beauty of it all... you don't have to look at the radio either! Chat Icon

Total genius! But I guess you have to possess a few brain cells to figure that out.

And since just about EVERY auto manufacturer is doing it now... maybe you don't agree... I think its safe to say that MOST will agree its less of a distraction.

This is EXACTLY the reason why I felt smoking should be banned while driving.

Yeah... its called the "CD CHANGE" button on the steering wheel. Cycles through all my CDs in my changer.

And here is a little IQ quiz for you.... if I want to go from CD 2 to CD 5... guess how many times I have to hit the "CD CHANGE" button.

The best thing about this... is I am trying to explain this to somebody that has been driving a 1994 Honda Civic for the past six years. No clue whatsoever what its like to use steering controls on a regular basis. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

But thats ok... its always good to learn in life.

If you are in someone else's car... you should be paying EXTRA attention in the first place while driving and you shouldn't be fiddling around with a radio you are not familiar with in the first place.

Oh... and BTW my Audi doesn't have steering wheel controls. My previous car that I had for three years did. And when you get used to the controls and you all of a sudden lose them... thats when you realize what a value they are.

I feel like we are losing all of our rights! People should be able to make decisions in their lives...whether right or wrong. If it is not illegal...why ban it?

Also...the cameras they are installing in NYC to "protect" us are a joke! BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING people....don't let them fool you!
