so how did you tell your families??

our first appointment is in less than 2 weeks and my mom's birthday is the next day...also, easter will be shortly after that. We want to do something cute to tell our families, maybe get an easter basket with cute "grandma" and grandpa" stuff in it....or possibly making my mom's bday gift baby related...

i don't really want to tell both families at the same time, since we don't all really get together too often. I have a feeling it is going to be an issue with DH on who's family to tell first....we live in apt. in my IL's house and i feel like they usually find out about things first b/c of that....so i am hoping he will be ok with telling my family first. I feel like my mom would be extremely upset if she knew we told his parents first....AH, the pressure!!! It's so silly to me, but really puts the pressure on!

I told my mom, we haven't told DH's family. We plan to tell DH mom, sisters on Easter....not sure exactly how yet but this is what DH thought of...we got our wedding album today & it came with minature albums for gifts. DH thought we could put sono in back of them and give them to his mom.

We told both our families on the same day, but we told my parents first b/c they live close to the doctor's office. Then on our way home we stopped by DH's parent's who live closer to us than my parents.

We got our mom's and sister's bib's that said Grandma and Auntie on them. For our dad's we got them cute little magnets for the refrigerator that said I love Grandpa, and made copies of the first sonogram and put them in there.

We wrapped all the gifts up as Valentine's day gifts!

We told our families kind of all over the place. I wanted to tell my family all together at Thanksgiving. Then IL's were going to FL for the holiday so DH wanted to tell them before they left. Like you, I could not tell them before my mom so when she invited us for dinner a few days before, we told my mom then, in a last minute cute way.

Then we told his parents at our "Thanksgiving" before they left.

But the best was how I told my siblings at Thanksgiving. I'm the youngest of 4, our baby is the 9th grandchild on my side so everything has been done from sono pics, grandma bibs, big brother shirts, you name it. I heard of the simplest idea and it was my plan B and it ended up being the best! My brother got there late because it was the year for his IL's so everyone was just exhausted and ready to leave. I said, please can we just get a pic of the four of us before we go. They all thought I was nuts, whose hair was a mess, who had no make up, who was too full. DH grabbed the camera and said, just humor her, you know she has a plan (as in I'm always doing photo related gifts for Christmas). So the four of us stand together and DH does the 1,2,3 and just before he snaps, I shouted, I'm pregnant! It took a second because they're all waiting for the flash but then it was just too cute! DH got a couple pics of everyone jumping around me so it was really fun and a special memory!
