So how long did it take everyone to unpack and put things away where they should be when they moved into their house

So my DW keeps telling me that im stressing over this because I want everything put away asap mainly because of OCD or something lol

It been 7 days since we closed and we moved in the next day and began painting pretty much right away. There are still boxes in just about every room but the MB.

We have our sprinkler system installed and the cable is hooked up.

we are getting recessed lighting installed in two rooms soon so thats one more thing to be done.

Am I over reacting...?

:)

please. my DH did it in about 5 days.

Was it necessary? No, but he had to have it done.

All the work on the house was completed before we moved in. House was empty when we bought it so after closing we went right in.

Well Im a bit anal. We moved in on a Friday afternoon, and I was done, pics hung plants out and tables set by Sunday afternoon. I was making sauce by Sunday afternoon. I hate boxes. My brother actually thought he walked into the wrong place.

It'll probably be another 4-6 months until we are all done with renovations and unpacked. We closed on May 8th.

If our home was move in ready, getting unpacked and settled would've been much quicker.

The last time I moved into an apartment by myself I was completely unpacked the same day I moved in.

We moved into our co-op in April 2005 and we only finished unpacking in November 2007...when I was 7 mos. pregnant and had to turn the spare bedroom into a nursery.

DH slows me down. Chat Icon

Chat Icon well I'm a little OCD too, but a year later I still have about 7 boxes still not unpacked. It's the stuff that you just don't know what to do with it and just can't throw it away yet. Chat Icon I will unpack or get rid of it soon after we finish our family room this winter. But DH wanted everything unpacked right away. We bought in July, worked for a couple of months and moved in November. We were settled before Christmas so that the house looked nice. We put boxes in closets or downstairs where we couldn't see them. Chat Icon 7 days is nothing! Enjoy! Believe me this year went really quick!

When we moved into our apartment, we moved in on a Saturday, I had all of those boxes put away by Saturday night.

The next day, I was surprised with my bridal shower....I had all those gifts put away that night.

Looked like we had been there for months! I just can't stand the clutter.

Well its been two weeks and unfortunately the house was disgusting when we move in. We have to recarpet the family room and all bedrooms as well as repaint the interior of the house. Carpets wont be in for two weeks and hopefully painting will be done by then so hopefully in three weeks we will be completely unpacked.

We've been here three months, and still have lots of boxes. Painting is finally done, and we're finally putting things on the walls, but there are lots of things that we just don't have a spot for yet. It does drive me a bit nuts, but there's not much I can do about it.

This will be me! We close tomorrow.
I am so OCD - I like everything organized and put away ASAP.

The majority (~80%) of the stuff was unpacked in 2 days and I was 7 months pregnant. I am anal too. I still have 2 boxes of crap that I don't know what to do with, LOL. At this point they should probably be in the garbage.

9 days in. Started with 80 boxes. Down to 7. But, things aren't organized the way I'd like them to be, so we're going to be moving things around a bit.

We wanted to break down all of the boxes so we could get rid of them at our condo which we closed on Monday. So, that's why we were in such a hurry.

Re: So how long did it take everyone to unpack and put things away where they should be when they moved into their house

We moved in to our house 1 week before christmas 2005, and we had christmas eve at our house. Downstairs all the boxes were put away and amazingly enough the house was nice and neat. Plus we also had a guest for christmas who basically invited himself to our house.

I dont know how we did it

Re: So how long did it take everyone to unpack and put things away where they should be when they moved into their house

We closed at the end of March last year, moved in at the end of April and had the majority of our things unpacked by the end of July (we were still working on some things).

We still do have a couple of boxes in the basement that have things we don't want to throw out or we don't know what to do with though. We also have a lot of things just sitting in our office and in our dining room since we still have to finish our basement for more storage (DH promised me it would be complete by 10/1).
