I did wedding invites for a coworkers cousin and on her reception card she put "monetary gifts preferred"
i tried my hardest to talk her out of that but she insisted.
if that was my family, they would buy the biggest boxed gift they could find and haul it to the wedding reception.

Wow.
Now, did the BRIDE have anything to do with the invites or was it someone else who put it on there? I mean, I guess whoever did the invites probably got that from the bride, but MAYBE she didn't know??? Like maybe she SAID "oh we'd prefer money" like to her friend or mom, but didn't know it was actually put on the invite??
If she did ask for it though, then yikes.

I received an invite from my Dh's cousin whose shower AND wedding invite said, monetary gifts appreciated.
We gave what we wanted anyway- a gift for the shower and money for the wedding

With that said I guess it was a good thing I didn't have my DD's invites say "Donations in lieu of gifts to the Bride and Groom may be made to the Mother of the Bride"
