So I've Started the Ball Rolling..Updated
on getting a Diagnostic Evaluation for my son at the Cody Center. I don't know why I'm so emotional about it though. I'm sitting here getting misty eyed. I mean, reglardess of a diagnosis he's the same little boy that I've accepted and loved for who he is since birth, and while I'm not sure what sort of impact an actual diagnosis will have on the services he already receives, I guess it will be good to pinpoint a "reason" as to why he is the way he is KWIM?

See the date of this original post? It took me THIS long to get an appointment! The Cody Center wouldn't take his insurance, it was too $$$ to pay out of pocket, so they referred me to someone else that works "with" them. I was playing phone tag with her for 2 months and gave up. I found someone else at St. Charles and scheduled an appointment and we were JUST seen today. Insurance is ridiculous, but that's a whole other post.
Anyway, she was great! Spent two hours with us, very patient, asked me a lot of questions, etc. She said he is defininately on the Autism Spectrum, she isn't sure if he falls under PDD or Asperger's yet, and wants to review the paperwork I brought in, etc. but we go back next month. She will also take over the medication management for his ADHD and we'll get him on something that is going to work AND not suppress his appetite (he's so thin). So that's a plus too.
I'm a little sad now but he's still the same great kid

Hes your son, you love him, and thats all that matters. If you didnt intervene then you would be doing him an injustice. Its hard but your a great mother for loving him

Thanks everyone 
He does get a lot of help already and has since age two through early intervention. I don't know how much more help he would get if there were an actual diagnosis of a spectrum disorder, but we'll see what happens!
