So last week I posted that someone made a mean comment about my weight gain...
At that point I thought I only gained 14-16 pounds.
I went to the Dr. this week and I am up almost 20 pounds. I am only 22 weeks. She recommends I only gain between 20-35 pounds.
I started to freak a bit because I saw her three weeks ago and I gained 9 pounds since then.
My Dr. told me not to be overly concerned, but that I am a bit over where I should be.
I just don't get it. It isn't like I am stuffing my face with cake all day.
She told me to cut out all the jucie and fruit becasue of the sugar.
I have a terrible body image to begin with and I am afraid how hard it will be to lose the extra punds afterwards.
I thought I was eating healthy. My appetite hass picked up though and I eat when I am hungry.
So with a little less then 20 weeks to go how I can only gain 15 more pounds to stay within the range I am supposed to be in especaiily when she said I will gain a pound a week in the end?
I can't wait to be a mommy and the weight gain is totally worth it, but it stinks!
Thanks

I am so with you. I put on almost all of my weight in the second trimester b/c I had morning sickness in the first. I feel like once I got my appetite I ate too much I am up more than I wanted and with 5 weeks to go I am dreading the rest of the weigh ins. My doctor doesn't seem to concerned though, so I'm trying not to get upset about it.
Just try to drink lots of water if you're hungry. And fruit is very filling as well. I've been eating almost a quarter of a watermelon a night!

Just keep track of what your eating. Ask your Dr. exactly how many calories you should be taking in daily. You might need to keep a food journal for a few days to see where your problems are. Add more vegetables to your diet. You will feel fuller & it will help help keeps those bowels moving!!
You'll be fine!!

Definitley avoid the fruit and fruit juices. I found when I tried to stay away from artifical sweetners it really upped the calories. Though 100% juice is considered 'healthy' it's loaded with natural sugar. And being so thirsty in pregnancy I was downing it by the quart!
It will level off eventually- just be vigilant.

Some people just gain a lot of weight! I posted almost the same exact thing first pregnancy. I was up 31 lbs at 27 weeks and was told I could only gain 4 more for the rest of the pregnancy well I ended up gaining 56 lbs total. My baby was born healthy, I was healthy, and I lost all of the weight. This time around same thing is happening, but since I am having twins I have a higher limit this time. I did eat a lot of candy bars while pregnant, but honestly it was the same that I ate before getting pregnant. Its like my metabolism completely shuts down when I'm pregnant.

Like a PP said, some people just gain a lot when they're pregnant.
I gained 70lbs with DD, and it's not cause I was sitting on the couch eating cupcakes all day long... I was eating just like the rest of you. My body just gains a lot while I'm preggers. The weight fell off after she was born. I had lost 50lbs in 3 months without doing anything differently. But then I got pregnant again so I started gaining again. LOL
I'm on the same weight track now as I was with DD. I'm 35 weeks and up 55lbs. I know that there really is not much more that I can do, so I try not to stress it too much. My doctor doesn't even give me a hard time about it cause she knows there's nothing more I can really do.
Try and hang in there!

Everyone's body reacts differently to pregnancy. You could eat right, exercise and still gain 50+ lbs. Others may overindulge, not exercise and gain very little. Don't freak out over the recommendations. If you're really worried, try to limit fruit, only drink water and beverages without sugar and eat whole grains.
FWIW, I was told to not gain more than 20 lbs. during pregnancy. I gained 45 lbs, at least half of which was due to severe swelling. I lost over 30 lbs by 1 week PP and the rest by 6-8 weeks PP. Try not to stress out.

hey i was the same way i was perfect with weight again till my 20week appt. i was told to stay in the 25-35lbs weight gain i went to 50lbs and you know what i lost it all so dont worry you can lose all the weight each person is different and gains different after that month where i gained a lot of weight i started only gaining 1-4 lbs a month and dr wasnt worried just watch your sugar intake because you dont want to get gestational diabetes and your baby could have had a large gain this month just watch not to eat unwanted junk calories and you will be fine
enjoy!

Re: So last week I posted that someone made a mean comment about my weight gain...
I am 22 weeks and have gained 17 pounds. My midwife said my weight gain is totally fine.
Were you at all underweight before getting pg? I was probably a little on the light side, so it's ok to gain a little more. With my DS, I gained 40 and they said that was perfect.
Also, I have to say that it seems like when my body is pg it just will NOT let ONE calorie go. Maybe this is just how your body is.
I know you mentioned juice... I love juice, but I only buy 100% juice and I always mix it half juice, half water. I think this helps with calories, etc.
