So my dr. changed her mind about the swine flu vaccine
And now she is recommending we get the vaccine because she has seen a lot of sick kids with a lot of complications. I am sooo torn on what to do!!

Wow!
changed her mind?
My god I think i'd lose my marbles! What little I have left.
Mine said it wasnt a big deal and no real big concern - like no biggie. If she changed her mind and said get it, I think I'd be angry at her. Its hard enough being a parent, we look to these professionals to help guide us. *sigh*
You poor thing!

I understand what you are saying and I would probably be a little annoyed too, but I could also see why the OP's ped. might have changed his/her mind. Their might have been a large outbreak that the OP might not be aware of and if that is the case than I think the ped is trying to protect there patients and appreciate the fact that they are changing their minds.

Re: So my dr. changed her mind about the swine flu vaccine
My DHs doctor (hematologist, completely different) changed her mind after consulting an Infectious Disease Specialist and after a bit of time had gone by. I think it had a lot to do with getting more information about the vaccine--I think this is why so many doctors are being cautious at the moment, they just don't know enough about it. Her main cautionary note was to tell us not to get the mist version, which contains a live virus. No one in the family should get that, and my pediatrician agreed it would be best for DS not to have that as well.
But we cannot even find it for my husband, who has leukemia. So good luck with the rest of us getting it!

Re: So my dr. changed her mind about the swine flu vaccine
I was torn. Ped said yes, pulmonologist said no.
I went ahead and got it. Was at Pulm last Thursday for a check up, told him we did get shot...he said oh yeah, good...I got my shot earlier in the week,.
This guy caused me so much stress by saying no shot...then he goes and gets one himself.

Yeah I know .. hence the
Id want to be mad at her but really how can you be angry when its for the sake of your child. Its just so annoying and confusing and frustrating. This would be just adding stress.
I may be against the shot but that doesnt mean i think others should follow suit. Everyone makes their own choice based on personal opinions but a lot of that is based on medical advice. It must be frustrating to have that advice change. Just a shame is all. I will (of course be calling my Dr. now )

Re: So my dr. changed her mind about the swine flu vaccine
Andrew, Aron and I got it and if I could I would give it to Alex but she's too young. Even though the rest of the family is protected I'm nervous because we're out in public places with kids all the time and Alex is so little.

Re: So my dr. changed her mind about the swine flu vaccine
Mine told me right off the bat that she was undecided about it and will determine whether to administer it to her patients as time goes by...I think its perfectly normal that she changed her mind.

Me too. Originally I was 100% against it but now I'm not so sure....
