So parents of same sexes tell me the good and the bad
We just found out we're having another girl...and I'm ecstatic, but I'm also envisioning crazy fighting and just girly messes...DH is having a mini heart attack that he's outnumbered too LOL...Also I'm an only child so the whole dynamic is new to me!!!

Re: So parents of same sexes tell me the good and the bad
Not there yet since my two same sex DC are still in the womb
But my sister has 3 boys. 7, 5, 2.5. They are the best of friends. For the most part they share and look out for one another.
But, boys will be boys. They rough house, demand their own space at times(older 2 share a room) and my sister is constantly being pulled in 3 different directions. Who has soccer, who has basketball, who has karate, and so one. But I would imagine that would happen regardless of gender.
I grew up with 1 sister 4.5 years older than me. She hated me my whole childhood. But that wasn't really her fault. I was always one step behind her. She played barbies I was learning to walk. She started doing her makeup, I started playing with barbies. I started dabbling with makeup, she was going out on dates. I really think if we were closer in age we would have gotten along much better.
We never really fought. Aside from the random times I'd steal clothes from her closet
With that said, once I graduated high school we really became the best of friends and still are. For us age is just a number now that we are both married, with homes, and children.

Thy definitely fight even with one major hair pulling incident a few weeks ago I definitely thought I had more time for that I have two sisters who I adore and I love that my older dd already says her sister is her best friend

Obviously I have two boys
I love every single thing about it.
I love that they are close in age and I hope that they will be close growing up, and when they are married with children.
I love the way they play together.
I love the way Jack runs into Tyler's room in the morning and says "Good morning Tyler, did you have sweet dreams?"
I love the way they hug and kiss each other. Today Jack was having a fit because I wouldn't give him Gingerbread cookies AND a BIG Toy Story Toy. Tyler came right over and gave him this huge bear hug. It was the best thing ever.
I love that I didn't have to run out and buy Barbies because they have the same interest in toys.
I love that Tyler can wear Jacks clothes.
I"m sure I would love it if I had kids of different genders also, but right now, the way these two are together I could not wish for anything more. I would take a boatload of boys if it meant they were all healthy and happy.

I have 2 girls and althought they are far apart in age, it is just awesome. They just get eachother and have so much playing "girly" things together. They brush each others hair, play dolls, etc.

DD #2 is almost a year so it's hard to say but I am THRILLED to have two girls. i love love love it! Love that they can share toys, the baby can wear the older one's clothes, they will hopefully like the same things and want to play with each other..... of course I have no way of predicting but that's what I'm hoping for! Plus dressing little girls is the best!!

Re: So parents of same sexes tell me the good and the bad
First- Congrats!
I have two girls 13 mths apart. There is nothing bad about it. It is supremely perfect. They adore each other. Whoever wakes up first goes to look for the other. My older one tries to teach the younger one. They share stuff, comfort each other, hug each other, kiss each other. Sure they sometimes fight over a toy, but it is almost cute to watch. And I've taught my older one to bring her sister something else to distract her and also the concept of taking turns. The little one is also learning stuff super fast as a result. She started walking at 9 mths. Talking at 10 mths. They melt my hearts and I am so thankful they will always have each other.
Btw I am also an only child, so sibling stuff is also brand new to me.

Re: So parents of same sexes tell me the good and the bad
My sons are twins, and the best of friends. Everything they do they have to make sure the other is "in" on it. If I give one a drink, if they are going in the bath, if they are getting into the car...they are always so concerned and make sure the other is getting the same treatment. They hug and kiss like it's their job, every morning when they get out of bed they run to the other bed and say "come on come on get up, time to wake up" and then give hugs. It melts my heart. They are already so adorable with Frankie, if he cries they rub his face and say "don't cry it's alright" or "what's the matter, why you sad". They are all so close in age and I hope they will be the best of friends.

Re: So parents of same sexes tell me the good and the bad
I have two girls, and I LOVE IT. They play sooooooo nicely together, though that may have more to do with the age difference (4 years) than anything else. Alex takes a motherly role with Yael, which Yael just loves. Anytime Yael needs anything, she goes first to Alex. She's smitten with Alex, and, thankfully, Alex doesn't seen Yael as a threat or competition so she plays with her all the time. They rarely fight - usually it's just Yael hitting Alex if she's frustrated, but Alex quickly disciplines her and they move on

We have 2 girls and love every second of it. They're 3 years apart. I get to reuse all of DD#1's clothes and toys, which is a MAJOR bonus!! And dress them in coordinating outfits, so much fun!
I'm sure there will be crazy moments, but we wouldn't change it for the world obviously!

Re: So parents of same sexes tell me the good and the bad
I LOVE having 2 girls. My DD#2 (20 months) loves playing with DD#1 (3.5)- and DD#1 loves playing with her as well. She gets her baby sister to play dress up and dolls with her. While they don't get along 100% of the time - I would say they get along 85-90% of the time. I don't think we would have the same dynamic if it was one girl and one boy - not to say that they wouldn't be close or friends - but I love to watch the sister bonding.
It is especially cute when DD#2 runs over and hugs and kisses her sister and says "Look mommy I LOVE my big sister!"

I have 3 girls (3 years old and 2 year old twins).
The bad: I have 3 of every toy so they don't fight. 3 tea sets, 3 of the same dolls etc.
The good: They are SISTERS and FOREVER FRIENDS!!

I don't have #2 yet but I can tell you it was just me and my sis growing up. We are 3.5 years apart...although we fought when we were younger I love having a sister. She is my best friend and I don't know what I would do without her. I soooo want #2 to be a girl....I want DD to have a sister and hopefully the same relationship I have with mine.
Congrats!!

I have two girls as well and I love it! After I had DD#1 I was hoping #2 would be another girl...so it was my dream come true!
They are a year and a half apart. Um, yes there is crazy fighting and girly messes for sure! But now that they are 5 and almost 4, they play SO nicely together. Since they are close in age (yours too?), they play with all of the same things. Just this morning, they opened up a "bakery shop" in the basement before school and sold us cookies.
The downside of two girls? I'm about to die under an avalanche of hair accessories and costume jewelry.
Now, as for 3 month old DS? I told DH, "Aw, he needs a brother so he has his own little buddy!" DH told me to start looking for a divorce attorney at that point.

Re: So parents of same sexes tell me the good and the bad
and there is nothing I don't love about it. They adore each other. Colin wakes up and squeals, "Ry Ry, Ry Ry" when he hears him downstairs playing and then yells it the whole way down the stairs to get to him.
Ryan loves loving on his brother (although his new thing is that he claims he can carry Colin and they're only about 8lbs apart - he does get him in the air though )
Love, love, love having two boys - but then again I know nothing else

Re: So parents of same sexes tell me the good and the bad
OMG i love it!! They will have a brother bond forever, they play with the same toys, they LOVE their mama and my DH just adores his two little guys.
And i will say..I saw my little sisters grow up together (a year apart). They are best friends. They do everything together. It's awesome. Had I had a girl first i would have prob wanted a girl second so they could experience that.
I know it doesn't always ensure a bond...but i think its so nice to have two of the same!!

I have to agree here. I was so upset when I found out DC 2 was another boy.. now I realize it's a true blessing . the boys just love eachother so much! they do fight already but any sibling would do that. we save so much money on clothes and toys bc they are both boys.
I don't like being outnumbered though, oh well at least my cat is a girl

Re: So parents of same sexes tell me the good and the bad
congrats!!!! it allll good!!!!!! i love having 2 girls... they are so loving and affectionate. i think its funny that our DH is out numbered lol...DH was just joking this am how he doesnt have any privacy in the bathroom bc we take over lol.
the fights will happen no matter what the sex is. Of course added bonus is you have the girl clothes already, we have a playroom and it all princess and not neutral, they share same toys. now you can dress up 2 kids in all the cute girl clothes that are out there and even dress them alike if u want.
