Re: So sad, please be careful and hug your little ones

In the baby books I read it said SIDS risk is up to TWO YEARS!!

A girl I used to work with knew a family who lost their daughter to SIDS at 2! Its awful...

I was thinking about this family all day - and all I could think was how truly awful this holiday is going to be for them... I know I have been buying things for Cailen for Xmas, and getting some baby's first Xmas stuff - I know these peolpe must have presents already for their baby, and all sorts of Xmas related stuff....

How could anyone go through this??? Its so heartbreaking it physically hurts me to even think about it for too long....

It's physically upsetting, I can't even think about it too much either otherwise i'll be sleeping on the floor of my girls room and in tears.

I can't imagine what that poor family is going through and how hurting the holidays are going to be forever.

You should never have to bury your own children.

Sorry i dont have more information. You never want to hear about SIDS and I never thought i'd hear about a 9 month old passing from it.

But thank you for the sids links. I thought sids risk was only to 1 years old.

Am I reading those statistics correctly? The highest percentage of SIDS death is 98% closer to one year old?

I can't shake this story from my mind today....Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

No you misunderstood. It's saying that 98% of SIDS victims die before 12mths of age which means 2% of SIDS death are in children 12mths and older. The statisitcs go as follows

-80% die before 5mths
-90% die before 6mths
-98% die before 12mths

So sad! Chat Icon

There is no blanket or bumper on DS' crib since he was born.

He has a sleep sack at night if it gets cold.

They use a blanket at daycare and they know it can only be under his waist.

This makes me so so sad. I can;t imagine living if I lost my son...I really coould not go on. I do not use blankets, but he does have a bumper for now. I should prob. take those out once he can roll.
