Atlanta had it bad last night. They don't have plows or salt trucks. At all. It took my sister in law 12 hours to get home last night!!!!! 12 hours!!! The hills there make it very dangerous.

Me too, I honestly never complain about the winter but we are in a new house with an inefficent boiler that is buring through oil at rapid speed and not warming the house all that well...of course it happens to be the coldest winter ever, cant wait to convert.

Ha- me, too! We actually just put the car yesterday because the windshield wipers stopped working, too. Greaaaatttt!
Also, that snow last night confused the hell out of me. I had no idea we were even expecting any.

Same here! I have a permanent chill in my hbones, I can't take it anymore
This winter has been bad, if every winter was this cold I couldn't stay here.
I also miss my coop heat

I really hate to complain, because I know snow and cold weather is a normal part of winter in NY. But it is seriously putting a damper on the fact that DH and I just bought a new house! We couldn't even go to the house after our closing last week because of the 14-inch snowstorm... not to mention it took us 3 hours to get home from the closing. All the snow is making it really difficult for us to move in and we're getting antsy! I guess that's what we get for buying a house in January.

The weather & snow thankfully don't bother me as you said - it's winter in NY.
But I cracked up at your post because we went through the same thing when we closed on our house in March 2007. The day of our closing...what should have been a 1/2 hr closing took several hours due to the weather & waiting for all parties to get there. Several hours of sitting in a room staring at each other. Congratulations on your new home!

My DH doesn't mind the cold or snow at all...but this year, he's just about had it. He mentioned to me yesterday that next year, we should plan to go away to the Caribbean sometime in January or February...I was like "OH HELL YEAH" even though I'm not a resort-relax-at-the-beach type.
With our luck, it'll be in the 40's and 50's all next winter!

I am not a huge weather complainer at all. In fact, I grew up in a house where my mom kept the windows open on winter mornings and would not turn the heat on unless it was seriously, seriously cold...I'm talking well below freezing.
However, these temperatures are out of control! I am tired of being perpetually frozen.

Also, it's not just NYC. There are crazy storms / ice in all the southern states. This is definitely atypical.

I was just reading something on facebook. Apparently, european models are already showing the possibility of an EPIC snowstorm the week of Feb 4-7th. Obviously they are tracking it still, so could be nothing.
