Re: So...Doctor told me I'm gaining too much...
One of the MDs in my practice said the same thing to me, but I'm taking it with a grain of salt.
I was underweight when I got pregnant (I'm 5'4, and I was exercising like a crazed woman, I was 107 lbs.)...this particular MD said you should only gain 30 lbs. for the entire pregnancy...well, I'm 26 weeks, and I've already gained those 30 lbs. The thing is, people are always surprised when I say I am pregnant...and they say I am so tiny.
SO, the moral....don't worry about this weight thing...enjoy your pregancy. And like you said, you are eating healthy.
Just hope you feel better that a lot of other women have heard the same speech from their MDs....I guess this is the new trend, to be extremely weight conscious during pregnancy (I for one am not going to worry about it).

Re: So...Doctor told me I'm gaining too much...
I asked my dr once if I was gaining too much weight and he told me that everyone gains differently and that as long as the baby and myself are healthy then not to worry about the weight, he said it'll come off after you have the baby and whatever doesn't you can work at....I was very happy to hear that he wasn't the type of dr who would put me down for gaining weight....IMO that's just not something I would appreciate as long as we were both healthy

Re: So...Doctor told me I'm gaining too much...
I don't think you are gaining too much, but I'm not a medical professional. Like everyone said it's hard enough being pg without having your doctor making you feel bad about your weight. If you are really bothered by his comments, I would consult one of the other doctors for their opinions.
I was very overweight when I got pg and my dr never made me feel bad about my weight or impose any strict guidelines. I only gained 18lbs my entire pg, but she told me 15-20lb was probably where I would end up.

My doctor told me the same thing. I said...yeah yeah yeah and gained 50 pounds. My baby was healthy and happy and so was I...all the extra 50 pounds of me.

His name isn't Diaz by any chance? There are 6 in the group I go to and he tells everyone they gained too much, while none of the others mention anything about it. If none of your others have said anything about it, I wouldn't worry.

No, I live in Virginia so its a practice here...i have liked the doctors so far, just this one threw me off a little.
There was no focus on anything else for my checkup-he went right into my weight gain, and told me how he hates seeing women putting on so much these days, that its not healthy for the baby, there is no need, yadda yadda yadda...
I wanted to scream I WALK 3 MILES EVERY DAY, I HAVE VEGGIES, I TAKE CARE OF MYSELF, DOES THAT COUNT FOR ANYTHING???
My husband though reassured me last night i look beautiful, happy and perfect to him. Lol. That was reassuring even though i told him he's a BFL (big fat liar!!!)

WOW, your doctor seems really really strict.. I do not think you've gained a lot at ALL and for your height, you are still at a great weight!
Poo Poo to you Doctor I truly feel that unless you are having other health issues, they should really cut us preggos some slack. And besides, everyone just gains differently!!
I agree. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just tell your doc that you feel good, and as long as you're not gaining 10lbs every month that you'll worry about the weight later.

Wow!!
Then I must be a chubba wubba!!
I was overweight when I became pregnant. At 32 1/2 weeks - I was up 29 lbs. (We will find out tonight - how much I went up at 34 1/2 weeks). My doctor is not concerned - I am more concerned then she is.
I just had my appt last night - I gained 5 lbs in 2 weeks
I almost had a heartattack - I am up 34 lbs in 34 1/2 weeks. My doctor does not seem to be concerned about it - and I am banging my head about it!
