I totally feel like if they wanted that much privacy they should have done a home birth and had medical staff taken in --- or rented out some kind of more-private medical facility. I just feel like there are so many other pregnant women and it sounds like many of them had their birth scenarios hampered by this whole event.

Taping security cameras? That is the part that bothers me the most. Security cameras are in place in L&D and maternity wards for a reason --- to protect the babies going in and out of the hospital. What if someone switched babies at birth or kidnapped babies during the time when the cameras were taped? Yea, it's a long shot, but it could happen and then there were no video records of it all because of Beyonce and Jay-Z?

This exactly. That should be illegal to place tape over the security cameras! That's sick! And ITA- they wanted privacy, they could've had a staff come into their home. And besides- I don't feel even a little bit bad for a celebrity dealing with "privacy issues"- you chose this life. As another previous poster said, you can get your privacy back when you give up the fame, the fortune, and all the other perks that go along with being a celebrity. Chat Icon The only ones I ever feel bad for are the kids who get harassed by the paparazzi.

I blame the hospital for allowing them to take over the way they did. All Lenox Hill sees is $$$, shame on them.

I fully understand Beyonce and Jay-Z's stance to keep this all a private matter - it's such a beautiful time.

However, having your security team monitor who can and cannot see their newborn children is beyond rude. I would have gone to jail if some flucking hired security guy told me I can't see my baby in the NICU because Beyonce said so.

I don't care if you have the $$ to do this - it just clearly marks your level of arrogance on the totem poll.

If I had that much money and was that famous believe me when I say I'd be doing the same thing. Good for them, they deserve the privacy in a moment like this!

and what does everyone else deserve?

Look, money talks. They can afford to do so and were permitted to do so that's what they did - stinks for the other people in the hospital, but these are the breaks. Can't get mad at the truthChat Icon

The hospital should have NEVER allowed this. Let's say the man whose infants were in NICU (who was not allowed to go in b/c of her bodyguards at some times....), what if one of them passed away and this man was not allowed to see them before that due to Beyonce's inconveniences to him? How is that something a HOSPITAL can allow? POOR POOR JUDGEMENT on their part to allow a hospital to be treated as a private club.Chat Icon

That's a good point I didn't even think of that. They should have at the very least made an exception for those in the NICU

Re: some info about beyonce's hospital stay

People keep saying they are doing this so they can sell the baby's pics to a magazine. I highly doubt that will happen. The same things were said about their wedding too and they never released a single pic. I don't think they will be selling pics of their baby either...I think they really just wanted it to be private.

Part of me can understand why people would say "this is so disgusting that they did all this!" but at the same time I think having a baby is such an intimate thing that is overwhelming for ANY new parent. Knowing that every papparzzi in a 100 mile radius of you is DYING to get a shot of you and your family during that time has to be stressful.

They clearly have to go to extremes to try and keep something for themselves in what is normally a private thing.

I definitely feel bad for any patients who had to be inconvenienced at the hospital. Jay-Z and Beyonce should compensate them financially in some way for that.

This was exactly my first thought. If one of those babies had died...there is NO taking that moment back. Could you imagine how it would have felt to know your baby is in poor health and their life hangs in the balance and somebody is telling you NO you can't go see her?? OMG I would FLIP!

Honestly, I feel they scripted this out perfectly. If they really wanted it private the public wouldn't know all the details of the security measures that they took. Just seems like we know more than then we should if it was really supposed to be so top secret.

I'll reserve comment on the whole thing in general, but will say this... if in fact their private security stopped parents from visiting their very FRAGILE babies in the NICU, that is disgusting.

My DS was in the NICU for a month and I had a c-section. If I was make to wait a half hour or any amount of time so they could walk down a freakin hallway, I would have lost my ever loving mind. Unless you've had a child in the NICU, you really can't understand how emotionally draining it is to begin with.

I'm surprised they don't somehow have Secret Service agents assigned to them.
Apparantly they are as important, if not MORE important, than the President of the United States, the Pope, and quite possibly God Himself.

Parents will do what they need to protect

their baby and themselves. If they had the

$ and it does not cause any danger to

other patients then go for it. Privacy is a

big thing to ppl esp when they are giving

birth. Who wants camera's flashing and ppl

crowding hallways to get a peek at you or your baby? Not me.

I agree with you.

Beyonce and Jay Z are not fame whores... they are famous for their talent and nothing else... I've never seen B's girly parts, watched them had sex, don't know what her wedding gown looked like... nothing. Because these people are EXTREMELY private. They don't talk about their relationship at all...

This is not to say that I wouldn't have LOST MY MIND if someone prevented me from seeing my babies in the Nicu.. I lost my mind when the nurse fed my DS instead of waiting 5 minutes for me to get to the nursery to nurse him.. but it's not Beyonce and Jay Z's greed that is caused it.

I would be so angry if I was delivering at that hospital and put in a room with a bunch of other people because all the rooms on Beyonces floor weren't allowed to be used. Hospitals are packed to begin with, imagine the mayhem this is causing closing off a whole floor? I can understand privacy but at the expensive of other patients...that's just really rude.

This I agree with. What if you were giving birth there on that day? You are suddenly chopped liver and not as important as another patient because she is a celeb and has boat loads of cash?
I'm sorry but it's wrong.
They want their privacy- yeah guess what? So did I after I gave birth. And I'm not rich or famous.
You chose this life- lack of privacy comes with the terriorty. You don't like it, you can get yourself out of the public eye and give up all the other perks of fame and fortune.
I am so freakin tired of the values in this society and the pedestal we put these celebs on. Like they are GODS.
Like they walk on water.
Personally I couldn't give a rat's azz about her or her baby or her husband or anything about her- or any celeb for that matter.
They don't give a shyt about us- why should we care about them?

this is kinda what I was wondering. Since they're so crazy about privacy, why didn't she just give birth in private at home. I'm SURE her OB would've been fine with that and she could've had round the clock care...plus she'd be more comfortable at home. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Yes, they had to have all this hoopla to avoid further speculation about a surrogate. Having a "home birth" would be way too suspicious!

The complaints have begun:
Bed-Stuy dad says Jay-Z & Co. turned Lenox Hill into private club

Having a baby in the NICU is an emotional roller coaster in itself. I cannot imagine having twins in the NICU & being stopped by Beyonce's security. I'd be furious.

If this happened to my Dh he would've lost it!! My twins were in the NICU and he was my life line to checking on them after my c/s. I would've gone nuts if they told him he couldn't go there b/c of a celebrity!

Re: some info about beyonce's hospital stay

Ok and if your THAT private, Im sorry you dont have the right to pretty much tell everyone else that was giving birth that day/weekend whateva YOUR more important than any of them because you have $... I understand having a baby is private and you dont have cameras flashing and paparazzi trying to sneak up... BUT you also dont have the right to put other people at risk and cause inconvenience to other patients and parents... Especially NICU babies...

If they required that much privacy then they had plenty of options... Have a private suite in the hosp where the baby stays 24/7 with a private nurse and private MD that is only yours for the time you are there... OR create a private sterile room in your house where this will happen... This is beyond ridiculous... Like I said they are not the first extremely famous people to give birth in a hospital... Where does every other celebrity give birth???

Just leads to more speculation about a surrogate! They need THAT LEVEL of seciurity and privacy cause they didnt want anyone to see the surrogate they were REALLY ushering in to give birth since she wasnt even really preggos LOL

Jay-Z's new song Feat Blue Ivy Carter - "Glory"

regardless of how I feel about the whole whirlwind circus and what's true or not...this song puts a definite lump in my throat. Beautiful...one thing is for sure...regardless of when she gave birth, how she gave birth, who gave birth...that child is loved...and thats all that REALLY matters.

A spokesman slams reports of the new mother's high-maintenance behavior and disruptive security detail.

It's been two days since Beyonce and Jay-Z welcomed little Blue Ivy Carter into the world, but the rumor mill on the baby's birth keeps on spinning.

Frank Danza, a spokesman for Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, wants to clarify a few of those rumors: namely, that the hip hop power couple shelled out $1.3 million to book a whole floor in the maternity ward, and inconvenienced other patients with an overzealous team of Beyonce-protecting bodyguards.

"Lenox Hill Hospital and its staff were delighted to welcome the Carter family for the birth of their firstborn on Saturday evening, but we are troubled by the misinformation being circulated in some news media reports," Danza said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter on Monday afternoon. "The suggestion that the couple paid $1.3 million to rent an entire maternity floor is simply not true. The family is housed in an executive suite at the hospital and is being billed the standard rate for those accommodations. Our executive suites are available for any patient, including the food service and amenities provided to the Carter family."

Danza also addressed reports that the brood's bodyguards inconvenienced other patients -- preventing one man from seeing his newborn twins, per a New York Daily News story in which the father, Neil Coulon, claimed he'd been banned from the sixth-floor neonatal intensive care unit by the couple's private security.

"The family does have its own security detail on site. However, the hospital has been and continues to be in control of managing all security at the facility," Danza said, clarifying the report. "We have made every effort to ensure minimal disruption to other families experiencing the births of their own children over the past three days. No security plan that we or the Carter’s security team put in place would have prevented or delayed families from gaining access to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and to date, no families have complained to the hospital about being denied access to the NICU."

Re: some info about beyonce's hospital stay

Just felt i might offer another pov, my sibling works at LH as well, and like a PP said, they have been preparing for weeeks for this.
As far as I was told, they were not in the regular labor/delivery area, but were staying in a private suite that was developed on a floor that was not in use.
Granted, I'm sure they did make a sizeable donation to the hospital in order for this to all go down, but I'm not sure all the people complaining about their babies' births being affected that day are totally accurate, know what I mean?
