Re: Some Registry Advice

I too feel like the onesies are better than the t-shirts - they just hold every thing "in place" better.

The umbilical cord onesies fit fine, but then I was nervous that something else was going to rub up against it and pull it off, so we only used them once or twice (plus his cord fell off when he was 10 days old, so no need really.)

The other thing I can't stress enough - TAKE EVERYTHING THAT YOU CAN FROM THE HOSPITAL!!

Anything that's not nailed down or won't get you arrested you should take. Your episiotomy kit, the diapers, the blanket, the nasal aspirator, the plastic buckets, etc.

You'll be amazed how handy they all are when you get home.

Thanks for the tips! They're going into my mental registry since it's still too early for me to do that.

Usually when one of my friends has a baby I run out to the gap and buy a newborn size outfit (smaller than 0-3 mos). I'm happy to hear that was a good habit and hopefully they'll return the favor in January!

Gap newborn outfits ARE 0-3. They were MASSIVE on my DS. They are just starting to fit now.

They sell more than just that, just not large quantities. I'm not saying I will do this, I HAVE done this and been told it's the only outfit that fits the newborn. They have a few newborn sizes smaller than 0-3 mos. Up to 7lbs and another that says 7-11lbs. That's the size I was referring to.

I guess like everything in life, it works for some but not all. The 7-11 lb. size is what several of my my girlfriend's babies wore for the first month before they went into the 0-3 mos size. Who knows, maybe it runs bigger now than it used to when they were babies. Chat Icon

ETA: maybe it was called premie size, bc the first time I ever saw it I was shopping for a friend who delivered 5 weeks early. Hope they still carry it if I need it when the time comes.

Word of advice regarding the clothes.

If you get newborn stuff don't take the tags off until they are born. Friends of mine never used these clothes while others got a long time out of them. I know some that worke 0-3 for a week.

I agree with Michelle, if you get newborn clothes do not take the tags off. I made the mistake of washing all the newborn stuff and James was a big boy and in the newborn stuff for about 2 minutes.

-Pampers Swaddlers are great! The pampers "Newborn" are different and too big on Noah at 8lbs.... So depends on the babies weight but get some swaddlers vs. newborn size. Or look at he diapers if you can and get small ones. They look tiny, they arent.

On the BRU registy recommendation list they listed Pampers Swaddlers Size 1. The description is a bit confusing it says for recommended age 8-14 months and then says size 1 fits 8-14 pound babies.

So from reading your post are the Newborn sizes before the size 1 size or is size 1 considered Newborn? If they're two seperate sizes do you recommend buying a box of newborns and then a box of size 1s?

Newborn is before the size 1....

I just tried some size 1's on Noah..hes almost 9 lbs and they are still too big.

The swaddlers come in sizes. I was referring to the newborn size (sorry if I was confusing Chat Icon )

The Swaddle Me. That is the company that makes it. I believe it is spelled Kiddopotomutus.

My cousin was over last night. She was looking at my registry to see if I missed anything and she told me to take off the swaddle me 'cause it didn't work for her. I want to put it bac on 'cause you never know.

Do you recommend the size small?

Oh and about the pampers I registered for 1 box of the newborns 96 count and 1 box of the size 1s 2hundred and something count.

IF anyone has any more advice. I only have like 84 items on my registry. I don't think it's a lot but I can't think of anything else. I didn't put down a humidifier. Should I?
