Someone help me please-unemployment insurance
Because I'm in Canada I can't fill the info out online.
I did the telephone application but then the recorded msg said I had to call back because they were too busy??
What the hell?? Why don't they keep you on hold? When should I call back?

Mondays are crazy.
If you have to call today, try to do it later in the day. I had success closer to dinner time when I needed to speak to someone.
They used to have a system where they called you back. I did that once too. I was skeptical, but they really did call back within about 30 minutes.
You'll get through eventually.

Sorry this is unrelated to your question but you mentioned you are in Canada. Are you applying for NYS unemployment benefits? My brother was told that he could not collect NYS unemployment benefits if he did not live in NY. He had to call in from his home phone to prove he was in NYS.(this was years ago).
Just wondering if they were lying to him.

When I called the automated system they just said I had to live in NYS, another state, or Canada
