Someone made a youtube video comparing Obama to Castro!
They based it upon a letter to the editor from someone who fled Cuba a number of years after Castro took office. I'm not taking sides and I'm no history buff so I have no idea how true this is. Just thought it was interesting.
Obama like Castro

Re: Someone made a youtube video comparing Obama to Castro!
i think it's ridiculous to think that Obama could singlehandedly (or with the help of the democratic party) turn this country into a Marxist-Leninism type of gov't like Cuba. if that's how this guy feels, or anyone else, then start packing your bags (or boats) now!

Can you give an example? I'm curious and I don't have the personal connection, so I wonder. Personally I think it's ridiculous, but I know my perspective differs.

It may seem unreal to you - and I am not saying I agree with it either. However, you have to understand the point of view of people who actually lived through Castro's ascension to power. To them, to hear similar messages of change and of spreading of wealth is scary and brings back those memories. I am not saying it is right or wrong or that you have to agree with it but you should at least be able to understand where those people are coming from.

Re: Someone made a youtube video comparing Obama to Castro!
when he speaks, he sounds like a dictator
when he talks about equality and spreading the wealth
when he talks about a "civilian army" and how we should have one that has much money and power as the military
what does that sound like?

Below is not my opinion but history. Well, before Castro took over - Batista was in power. He was a very big capitalist but there was no middle class. Castro "rode in" promising change, a change that everyone wanted. He promised to "redistribute the wealth". People revered him and believed that there lives would truly be better. He never paraded himself as a socialist or a communist. As an anecdote, my grandfather, who went to college with Castro, refused to support him because he remembered his "socialist" views from college.
Anyway, I could go on and if there are any specific questions feel free to ask.

Obviously.
Thank heavens for checks and balances, I guess, even though I don't see the comparison to Castro.
It's getting harder and harder to hold my tongue.

No need to hold your tongue. However, if you do a little research into Cuban revolutionary history you will see that the similarities exist regardless of whether they may just be circumstantial.
And no, not every candidate that proposes change is a socialist. I am not even saying that Obama is indeed a socialist, however, when many of the principals that one is espousing echo some socialist principles it is not difficult to see why some may make that connection.

Look, it's like Mrs. Professor wrote, checks and balances. Not that I take this you tube video as a crystal ball but Obama can't singlehandedly change this huge, tremendous country into a Cuba.

Re: Someone made a youtube video comparing Obama to Castro!
I am a McCain supporter, but I honestly don't believe that Obama's intention is to ruin our country. I highly douby many of his policies will pass anyway. Maybe I am being naive, but I can't imagine Obama being able to brainwash more than half of the country into believing in him when he is really some crazy person waiting to move in for the kill. I would think Americans are smarter than that. I think people just fear him because he is so different than what we are used to. Like I said, I am a McCain supporter, he will be getting my vote tomorrow. But if Obama wins, I just don't see us becoming Cuba in a 4 yr. span. Or a communist nation for that matter. Just my two cents.
