Sorry I am full of questions: What temperature at night for a newborn?
DH is so concerned the baby is cold so he puts the heat up to 72- it gets really toasty in our room plus DD wears a sleepsack. I definitely don't want to overheat her but I don't want her to be cold either.
What temperature do you set your thermostat for at night with a newborn?

We keep the temp the same as we always have... we just dress DS in layers and if it's a little chilly at night, we put a hat on him.

Our house is constantly at 68. The nurses at the hospital told us 68-70 is good. Any less is probably too cold and anything more could be too dry for them.

We used to keep it at 66 and then dress DD in a couple of layers & a hat if necessary as PP posted.

68-72 is fine. With infants, you are always better off cooler air than warmer as long as they're layered with clothes.
Once you've battled croup, you'll appreciate the cold air.

Ped told me 68-70 not higher than that over heating can cause SIDS

Re: Sorry I am full of questions: What temperature at night for a newborn?
We keep dd room between 68 & 71. She wears fleece feetie pjs. We also keep her fan on low the opposite way to circulate the air. Maybe try that w/ the fan. Be careful of over heating. Also please dont put a hat on a baby. So dangerous. It can slide over their face. I hate that they sell pj sets w/ hats. My dd was in the nicu and the nurses stressed no hats while sleeping! It is a SIDS risk.

cooler is better, they sleep better in cooler temps too! We set the thermostat at 70, but keep his window open a crack.

Re: Sorry I am full of questions: What temperature at night for a newborn?
Since DS was a preemie, we upped our thermostat to 69 at night (we use to have it at 66). Our room gets extra toasty, so I use a fan on high. DS sleeps in fleece PJ's & a sleepsack

Re: Sorry I am full of questions: What temperature at night for a newborn?
Both of my DCs rooms get COLD so we have always bundled them. Now I got the GroEgg and according to that optimal temp appears to be pretty cold (64-68)

Re: Sorry I am full of questions: What temperature at night for a newborn?
I have the egg too, i dont go by what they suggest. I agree it is too cold. Her egg usually says 71. I keep it in the orange range. I think her room is actually a little cooler than it says.
