Sorry if this is stupid: Question about going back to work after baby

I gave birth via c/s on 9/30 (3 weeks ago). I was told by my dr that I could return to work after 4 weeks if I wanted to, so I told my job I'd be back on 11/1 (4wks & 4 days post c/s). I'm just "worried" I won't feel 100% physically better.

How else will I know without just going back? I'm feeling good but yesterday I think I did over do it, and felt some discomfort/pain. My job isn't too labor intensive, but I do drive 35 miles each way, work 8-5 then pick up DS on the way home.

DH thinks I should try & go back to work next week and see how I feel (physically & emotionally) but there again, I'm afraid it'll be too soon. There are 2 small selfish reasons I don't want to go back next week 1-DH is off Monday and 2- Friday is DS' Halloween party & parade @ daycare (@ 2pm) and I was looking forward to going. If I have to work that day I'd have to leave work @ 1 (& I have no more vacation/sick time left).

Can you go back part time for a week or two to see how you feel? Will your job allow it?

ETA: I really didn't feel totally back to normal after my c-sections until at least a month. I will still sore picking things up and moving around a bit.

Re: Sorry if this is stupid: Question about going back to work after baby

I have thought about asking if I can go back part time, but afraid they'll say no. It is a small company and no one is part time. I'm sure it may be okay if it was a temporary thing. Maybe I will call and set up a meeting to go in & discuss it with them.

Does any1 know if I can still get even partial disability if working part time?
