Re: Sorry if this is to personal - maybe someone can make a poll
$440K put down 5% and used $12K sellers concession for closing costs.
Took piggyback loan with fixed rate to avoid PMI. Piggy back has a balloon payment at year 15 but at the rate we are going will be paid off next year.

Sorry, we bought from my parents and that was the cost of the houses then. My neighors paid $136,000 2 years later for the duplicate of our house but with 1 extra room.

Re: Sorry if this is to personal - maybe someone can make a poll
How does everyone afford this much money for houses???? Does everyone have really GREAT jobs? My dh and I make decent money, under $100,000 though and sometimes I feel like we are struggling with not having extra money for things. We do have 2 kids though so daycare and other things do take a chunk of our money aware per month.

although you 2 earn WELL above the avg for LI, you need well over $100K total income per year to afford a house here these days

I feel the same exact way! DH makes a very good salary, but there is no way we could afford to buy here unless I started woking again. Since I want to stay home with the kids we're forced to look elsewhere.

FH and I are 27 and 24, make over $100M combined, have no kids and minimal debt (just student loans and one car loan) and we are going to struggle the first year we buy our house, - I couldnt imagine if we had kids how we would do it, but we figure its worth it to live here and we dont want to leave our jobs.

It is soooo crazy!! We have cc debt so that doesn't help but we make decent money between the both of us. When we bought our house, we made a combined income of $35,000!!!! We make alot more than that, average for our town but still feel like we have nothing at the end of the month-lol!!
