So....what do we think of the new Yankee Stadium? UPDATED album pics- added museum
pics in my album
Let's not even talk about the game.
Definitely beautiful, more spacious, LOVE being able to still see the game while in concessions. LOVE the amount and variety of concessions available (though the DH paid $12 for a double cheeseburger!). I wish Mo's had more than Nachos- would be nice if they had burritos. I love that the bleachers have SO much to offer now and being able to walk around the entire park!!!
And....THE BATHROOMS! Hallelujah!! HUGE, TONS of stalls...never ever have to wait!!! Though it was funny- DH and I went at the same time and he had a line! Never saw that before!
I will say though, it lacks charm. It's very....clean and bright...but lacks character, know what I mean? Still love it though. HELLOOOO legroom in the bleachers!
AND I love my seats in the bleachers...definitely a better view, even if I'm stuck in left field.
Didn't make it to the museum or Monument Park...the lines were nuts and probably will be for ages.
The funniest thing? Coming into the gate, they scan your ticket and the turnstile announces - in Bob Sheppard's voice of course - "Welcome to Yankee Stadium"
So....that's my 'review.' What did you think?
*****UPDATE*****
Went to Saturday's game. Yeah, I know. Debacle. The one good thing is that they keep the museum open during the game so we got to go! Very cool stuff, I added pics to my album if you'd like to see.
More thoughts on the stadium....I hate the standing room now. People EVERYWHERE. What would be so spacious is now just annoying to get through. I kinda laughed that I had to show them my ticket to get to my lowly bleacher seat!
Everything is just mobbed right now...concession lines are horribly long...the outdoor food court in the bleachers, hell I'll never go there because it is packed to the gills...
oh and I had to get to the game late due to a baby shower...so I pre-paid for parking and OF COURSE they CLOSE the garage I was supposed to use!! I was so worried I was gonna lose my money and have to park at a really far garage and waddle my pregnant butt all the way there! Well luckily, they honored my ticket at the new parking deck that is attached to the stadium. I knew that reserved parking thing would backfire in some way though. I had asked a cop about it and he said it was happening to A LOT of people- they prepaid and couldn't get in their garage. So I guess that's why they allowed us to use the 'fancy' new garage.

Re: So....what do we think of the new Yankee Stadium?
Loved the new stadium. Love that it's not a stifling no breeze place. Our seats are in left field in the Terrace section. Love that the Beers of the World is right there. The corridors are all open and bright and easy to find everything. Walking in was like Vegas though...great posters, lights and people walking around with How May I Help You signs or something like that.
They still have kinks to work out but overall a great experience.
The Nathans consessions ran out of everything. I had to wait a while for my fries.
Some of the bleachers are obstructed and I would hate to sit there.
Overall, I loved it. My next game is may 5 against Boston.
final words:
Camden Yards..still the best ballpark.

Re: So....what do we think of the new Yankee Stadium?
Susan, I totally forgot to mention- YES the customer service, it's hysterical with them walking around with their signs! And they're so friendly and telling you to enjoy the game...what a hoot.
I agree...Yankee Stadium does lack the charm of a Camden Yards, for sure. But it is a beauty and sooo comfy and modern, thank goodness for that!
I did get VERY teary as I was walking into the gate- and seeing the old stadium on the other side. I will definitely miss that place. Too many memories left behind.
Will add pics in a minute!

Re: So....what do we think of the new Yankee Stadium? edited w/link to pics
i was there today, got to see the first win I was also there the first game ever against the cubs.
I miss the old stadium, i miss alot of things My seats are not horrible we are covered and there are tv monitors right there because we can NOT see the big jumbo screen so the tv's make up for that, because they show whats on the big screen on the tvs
There is no charachter I have to say i was there today and there were TONS of empty seats downstairs the expensive 2500 dollar seats were 1/2 empty and it makes me feel good.
The yankees really screwed over the real fans by making any seats downstairs totally unattainable and i hope they are choking on their greed right now.
the seats that we had in the old stadium if we compare would go for around 375 now and they were not even offered to us for our friday nite package we wanted.
I think those people walking around with the can i help you signs are not very knowledgable, they should read please dont ask me anything i know just as much as you do.

Great pictures!!! Thanks for sharing. I have the same shirt!!! Can't wait to wear it. I just have to add an "s" to fan b/c of the twins!
Was there a long line for the museum?? I'd really like to see that.
Did you notice how the parking situation was?? If we get there early (like 10am) will we get something close??? Worse case scenario, I'll have DH drop me somewhere close nd park.
I'm so freaking excited!

I noticed, as I watched on tv, all those empty expensive seats! It was so sad. I hope they re-think that for next year. It looks so bad. I hope they are losing a ton of money on those.

Um, as soon as I can afford it.
That's why I'm living vicariously through you!! Great pics of the museum, I'm glad they kept Munson's locker.

OMG that is so cool- TWINS! Congrats!
Well, we went to the museum during the big blow-out, when the game was already 14-2 in the 2nd. I'd say we waited on line for about a half hour. I would imagine the lines might be longer pre-game. The great thing is they keep the museum open during the game, unlike Monument Park, which I have a feeling I won't see for a looong time. But that's okay, I saw it plenty of times at the old stadium.
You can definitely get a decent parking spot if you get there early. You can also reserve parking here . Only tricky thing is, I almost ran into a problem. I pre-paid for a garage right on River Ave, next to the stadium. They closed River Ave (I went to the game late) so I couldn't get into the garage I paid for. I was so sure I was going to lose my money, but I turned onto Jerome Ave and they let in the fancy new garage they built next to the stadium. If you pre-pay for parking though, you have to pay an extra $4 I think.
No worries because I have the same thought for games later on in my pregnancy- I know I'm not gonna be able to handle that walk.
