Raise your hand if your water broke naturally. *New Question Added!*
You rarely hear it happening in the grocery store anymore so just curious how many here actually had their water break naturally on its own.
Where were you? Gush or Trickle? Did you freak out or just think, okay this is happening? Did you contract first or break water first? How soon after did active labor start?
Just curious thanks!
ETA: What did you do on your way to the hospital? Load up with pads, towel, pillow, let it run down your legs?

Re: Raise your hand if your water broke naturally.
Mine broke spontaneously after 2 days of labor ( I had an abnormal labor) It was a "pop" everyone in the room hear it with a HUGE gush and I continues to gush until after I delivered her

Re: Raise your hand if your water broke naturally.
for my first i was at work sitting down and i felt as if i took a piss on myself, once i got up, flood gates were open and i had the flow of water until i got to the hospital. for my second, just contractions and they broke my water at the hospital.

Mine was a trickle for a hour or two and a gush as soon as we pulled up to the front of the hospital.

Re: Raise your hand if your water broke naturally.
I was at L&D already for preterm labor and felt a gush (so I was contracting first)---I had DS about 5 hours later!!

Re: Raise your hand if your water broke naturally.
Where were you? In my mom's car
Gush or Trickle? Gushes - Everytime I had a contraction I felt like I was peeing myself
Did you freak out or just think, okay this is happening? Started to get a little concerned DH wasn't going to get there in time - and that's when I finally acknowledged I was really in labor
Did you contract first or break water first? I was having contractions but didn't really realize that's what they were
How soon after did active labor start? I gave birth about 30 minutes later

Re: Raise your hand if your water broke naturally.
Where were you?
1st time: I was at home, 3am ish. Just got back in bed after going to the bathroom.
2nd time: it didn't break until after she was born.
Gush or Trickle? 1st time: not really a trickle, & a lot less than a gush. It wasn't all at once. eta. the peeing yourself analogy is accurate for me.
2nd time: gush but she was out already.
Did you freak out or just think, okay this is happening?
1st time: I didn't freak out because I was in complete denial since I was only 34 weeks. Then I went into "okay this is happening" mode.
2nd time: n/a
Did you contract first or break water first? 1st time: I was feeling crampy earlier in the night but now when my water broke. Contractions started later.
2nd time: n/a
How soon after did active labor start? 1st time: 3am water broker, I'm not sure how you define active labor - i showed up after 11am at the hospital at 5cm, hung out at the hospital, then pushed for a few hours, baby was born at 5:27pm.
2nd time: active labor was done before water broker.

Re: Raise your hand if your water broke naturally.
Mine was a pop and then a trickle...
I just remember sitting on my couch and then I felt the pop... I told DH "my water broke!! Oh no! The rug! the RUG!!" I waddled into the bathroom and my rug was spared.
ETA: My water broke at around 8pm - I had been having mild contractions for 12 hours at that point. I went to the hospital 2 hours later.

Raising hand!
It was midnight and I with one big contraction it all started to come out, like I was peeing and had no control
it wasn't a "gush" though.

It was a v-birth. From what I was told, it's not the norm so don't count on it. It's called being born in the caul. It was a very, very easy delivery with not even a full push out. I was waiting for my husband to finsh up paperwork so I was holding off. When you're in labor & holding off pushing, you're going to realize how truly nuts it was that I was trying to wait for him.
As for what I did on the way to the hospital, the first time I used a pad - which was more than enough.

Your water doesn't have to break for you to have the baby.
My sister was born in the bag of waters, and mine didn't break until DS was born, I had a "leak" and he was born, then it gushed out after.

It happened naturally, only about 5 min before they would have broken it for me... I was in L&D for almost 24 hours at that point

ME, POP SOUND, TRICKLE THEN GUSH
This is exactly what happened to me. Labor didnt start right away, I had minor contractions that night in the hospital.. but had terrible pains in my back because of the way she was positioning herself. I was induced the next day at 9 and had my baby by 2:30!!!

Re: Raise your hand if your water broke naturally. *New Question Added!*
Pop sound / feel and gush. I was having regular contractions prior to the break and they increased afterwards.
I was already at the hospital when it happened so I didn't have to worry about pads etc. I soaked the hospital bed and sheets so they changed it.
I didn't freak out but I still clearly remember the look on my husband's face when I said "my water just broke". He looked on the edge of panic.

Where were you?
at home on lif...lol...seriously
Gush or Trickle?
gush
Did you freak out or just think, okay this is happening?
i questioned it.....did i pee myself....went to the bathroom peed for real and then said na i just peed a lil....thenit kept coming every time i stood up in gushs.
Did you contract first or break water first?
honestly i think i was cramping/contracting from the day before bc i had been uncomfortable since the docs appt the day before (rough internal exam) and was uncomfortable all the way into the next morning when i lost my mucous plug
How soon after did active labor start?
530am lost mucuous plug 530pm water broke 630pm got to the hospital thats when the contractions actually starting hurting so i guess that was the beginning
What did you do on your way to the hospital? Load up with pads, towel, pillow, let it run down your legs?
wore a pad ....its like a gush that you would have with a period...sorry tmi....but it got soooooooo much worse when i was told to walk around the hospital for 2hrs bc i was only dilated 1cm and they couldnt admit me yet but couldnt let me go home bc of risk of infection....yes that was absolutely disgusting ....the gushes got bigger, messier (tmi) and more frequent with every contraction.....at that point i was wearing big hospital wee-wee type pads.....but i soaked through my pants as i was walking needless to say those went right into the garbage when i got home

Re: Raise your hand if your water broke naturally. *New Question Added!*
i was asleep, got up to go pee at my usual 1am. went back to bed and maybe 5mins later i felt myself .. well wetting myself
I leaked
I waited it out for a bit and realized it was not stopping (hey it was 1am, i wasnt thinking) and then woke up my hubby and said "I think we may have to go to the hospital now"
I sat on a towel on the way to the ER. I had it shoved between my legs and another towel folded over and laid on the front seat.
No pain No sound No contractions
Just lil miss leaking seave.
Took FOREVER for it to at least slow down. I had those nurses giving me new towels to soak every 5-10mins.
oh and contractions started full on about an hour and a half later I guess. Horrible pain and suffering. I was due for my C/S 2weeks later so I wasnt allowed pain meds and i couldnt push since AJ was breech. It Suk'ed
