Special Needs Cheerleading Team

Longwood Youth Sports Association (LYSA) is excited to announce our second year of our Special Needs CHeerleading team. Fee is $140 for the season (July - November) with fundraising available to cut costs. The team "competes" at local cheerleading competitions. Every child gets a trophy and/or a medal. We accept any child from any district with any disability. If you are interested, PM me for more details. (ages 5-15)

There is also: Long Island Cheer in Ronkonkoma has a special needs team. There is no age limit, and they go to competitions.

Long Island Cheer is awesome!! My daughter used to be on the Tiny Team there last year. We saw the special needs team at the annual exhibition and they were great! Brought a tear too my eye!

Boys can join too! There were boys on the team last year. It's not the "ra ra re" type cheerleading. It's All Star, which is focused on tumbling, stunting, etc. They also have a boys only tumble class, so if you didn't want to do the team, there is that option. Their prices for classes are inexpensive, and their facility is huge and very nice. They have a tumble trak, trampoline, rock climbing wall, lots of mats. One thing they don't have though is A/C, so I would sign up for the fall!

All of them are usually in the evenings or on Saturday. I think they probably have the schedule on their website
