Spin off of taking toddler to a show

When did you take your DC to the following:
-Zoo
-aquarium
-bounce places
-White Post Farms
-LICM
-Amusement Parks-Sesame Place, Dutch Wonderland (is this right?)
-circus

DH claims that we shouldn't waste our time taking DC to the zoo or aquarium yet (I figured by 18 months) because he wouldn't get it. Chat Icon

The bounce place, maybe 2 years old, same with dutch wonderland.

As for the zoo, aquarium, etc I would take them at any age.

Some think it is a waste of money because the won't remember it. I fell that way about Disney, but no the zoo.Chat Icon

Re: Spin off of taking toddler to a show

-Zoo
16 months

-aquarium
12 months

-bounce places
12 months

-White Post Farms
12 months

-LICM
2.5 years

-Amusement Parks-Sesame Place, Dutch Wonderland (is this right?)
Disney 6 months
Busch Gardens 12 months

-circus
2 years

He enjoyed everything the first time, as you can see we started him around 12 months for most things. As he is older he understands and enjoys these things even more but I don't regret taking him at at early age, bc it was fun for us too.

Re: Spin off of taking toddler to a show

When did you take your DC to the following:
-Zoo - *hasn't been to a zoo yet. Hoping to go this Spring... but we've been to Holtsville Ecology and the Game Farm.... I don't think she was walking yet when we went to Holtsville.

-aquarium - *Started taking DD when she was about 3-4 months old

-bounce places - *over a year?

-White Post Farms - *Never been

-LICM - *Never went to the one in Nassau, but we have one in our town (smaller) since she was about 14-15 months

-Amusement Parks-Sesame Place, Dutch Wonderland (is this right?) *We will be going to Hershey this summer when DD1 is 4 (only because SIL live 10 minutes away and we'll be visiting). We found out this past summer that she does not like rides of ANY kind, so we will be holding off on anything like that until it's worth it.

-circus - *Haven't taken her yet. I have mixed feelings about circuses, so I'm not sure when or if I will take her.

Re: Spin off of taking toddler to a show

-Zoo - at 4 months and he loved looking around then again at 13 months. still loved it
-aquarium - not yet, but we look at the fish in pet stores all the time. LOL! Probably this summer
-bounce places - 17 months for a bday party. he had so much fun
-White Post Farms - never, we're in NJ
-LICM - never, we're in NJ
-Amusement Parks-Sesame Place, Dutch Wonderland (is this right?) - Great Adventure when he was 17 months. Loved looking aroud. Hated some of the rides... he had an "unsure" look on his face then he fell asleep in the stroller and mommy went on a million rollercoasters b/c daddy doesn't LOL
-circus - not yet

Re: Spin off of taking toddler to a show

-Zoo
2.5yo

-aquarium
12 months

-bounce places
12 months (but he hated them until he was about 2.5yo)

-White Post Farms
12 months

-LICM
2 yo

-Amusement Parks-Sesame Place, Dutch Wonderland (is this right?)
Storyland (NH) 7 months
Hershey 18 months
Disney 22 months, 36 months
Sesame 2.5yo (he was so unimpressed)

-circus
15 months

He enjoyed everything. The amusment parks we went with his cousins who are older so that helped but he had fun taking it all in.

As I told my friend recently...sometimes its not about what they will remember or how much they will "get it" but rather as parents its about the memories we will carry with us forever. The first time my DS saw the circus, he could care less about the animals but I wont forget his face as he watched the lights and how amazed he was. The first time we went to disney...his favorite party? The fireworks! Thats all he asked for all day everyday! Hershey, he loved the water park and could have stayed there all day!

Most places are free for that age anyway

AJ's been to the Zoo (1st bday)
Aquarium (1st bday) and earlier
Bounce places 18m
Sea World 10m and up
Circus 18m

AJ loves the aquarium.. BEST thing EVER.

My DS LOVES the zoo and the aquarium. We have been to numerous ones this past summer, so he would have been 7-9 months. We bought the membership at the zoos. The children's sections at the zoos are great for infants. We have done the Bronx Zoo, Central Park Zoo, Prospect Park Zoo, and the NY Aquarium (all under our membership). We also took him to the Baltimore Aquarium.

We did the LICM around 12 months. There wasn't much for him, but he liked the infant room and the room with all the wood blocks. Just a day out in my opinion.

Haven't done the others yet. Though one night we walked through Adventureland just to get out. DS likes all the lights, we won some stuffed animals in the arcade. It was just a nice night to be outside.

When did you take your DC to the following:

-Zoo--3 months old. Slept the whole time Chat Icon

-aquarium--about 5-6 months old. He loved it!

-bounce places--10 months old for a bday party. He had fun but would definitely enjoy it more if he were over a year old.

-White Post Farms--6 months on a mommy group trip. He loved looking at the animals!

DS is 10 months old. Haven't taken him to any of these yet:
-LICM
-Amusement Parks-Sesame Place, Dutch Wonderland (is this right?)
-circus

When did you take your DC to the following:
-Zoo- DD#1 11 or 12 months, DD#2 was a baby when she started going
-aquarium - DD#1 12 months
-bounce places DD#1 - we went around 20 months - but she didn't get into them until between 2 and 2.5. DD#2 really loved it when DH and I took them both - she was about 18 months and was jumping in all of them.
-White Post Farms - DD#1 11 months I think - she was under 1 and was walking
-LICM DD#1 around 12 months
-Amusement Parks-Sesame Place, Dutch Wonderland (is this right?) We haven't done these yet
We took DD#1 to disney at 15 months and DD#2 turned 1 on our last trip (DD#1 was almost 3 on her 2nd trip)
-circus- DD#1 went at 9.5 months. We are taking DD#2 this March for the 1st time - she will be about 22 months

Re: Spin off of taking toddler to a show

DS is 22m old. DH always says DS is too young for everything. We usually end up going after DH finds excuses NOT to go the first 1-2x I try to go.

-Zoo 14 months
-aquarium 13 months
-bounce places - he's been on the bouncy thing at WPF only at around 18m
-White Post Farms - 15m
-LICM - 12m (he went to his first children's museum in boston at 8m and had NO idea what was going on)
-Amusement Parks-Sesame Place, Dutch Wonderland (is this right?) 16m
-circus - not yet

I was going to just plan things to do. Dh won't have a choice but to go because he wouldn't let me go alone. We would have a good time but I wish he would stop saying DS isn't old enough or won't understand what is going. Chat Icon

I haven't gone to any bounce places, but we started taking DS to the other places between 15 and 20 months. He definitely enjoyed everything, but I think he'll get even more out of the places this summer when he's 2.5.

DD is 20 mo. I only work part time so I got a pass to the aquarium. DD LOVES it. I the the pass was 50 for myself and she's free. Its great since it's really not a big place so you don't need to spend a lot of time there. When it's warmer I meet my gf friend and her 2 kids and we have a picnic there. We're going to LICM on Friday for the first time and we've been to the zoo once.

Re: Spin off of taking toddler to a show

-Zoo : 11 months
-aquarium: Not yet - probably this summer
-bounce places: in a few weeks - she'll be 16 months
-White Post Farms: 7 weeks, lol, it was a friend's birthday. We'll probably go back this summer
-LICM: 5 months
-Amusement Parks-Sesame Place, Dutch Wonderland (is this right?): not yet
-circus: not for a LONG while (I'm not a fan)

I like to take DD anywhere we can, even if she won't remember it. The look on her face when she sees something for the first time is priceless. I also took her to a Mets game when she was 7 months and a Yankees game when she was 11 months.

Re: Spin off of taking toddler to a show

Aquarium- all of our DD's have been there pretty much since birth since we've been member's forever and it doesn't cost us to go there.

Zoo- DD was 13 months

Amuement park- dutch wonderland- 13 month

bounce places- 9 months(and every 3 months thereafter since my DD is sooo afraid of them- still at 20 months she's the only one scared of the bounce house)

Pretty much since DD can walk/run around we've gone almost everyone since she was 12 months old. She loves to run around and explore and see what's there.

We've gone to the holtsville ecology site to see the animals and play on the playground pretty much 2x a week since DD was 10 month old.- weather permitting.

Re: Spin off of taking toddler to a show

I'm surprised at the answers.

We took DS to the aquarium at 5m, he loved it, was memorized by everything. I think you can do aquarium at any age.
