Spin off to Childcare post - cost?
Can you ladies fill me in on the average cost of full time day care or a nanny? Do any follow a teacher's schedule?

Re: Spin off to Childcare post - cost?
The family day care we are looking into seems to follow a school schedule. Not great for us but unless we find something better we may have no choice. It is 1900/month but that is for two. I think it may be 1000/month

Re: Spin off to Childcare post - cost?
I pay $115 a day for 2 - teacher schedule so some months when we have vacation are much less than other months. I would say my average is $2000 a month for 2. Do not have to pay for over the summer or any school holiday.

Re: Spin off to Childcare post - cost?
my daycare i think is $326 a week for full time newborn/infant 5 days a week 8-6.
I am not a teacher but teachers send thier kids thier i dont think they make you pay in the summer if the kids arent there but i am thinking for holidays they do.
They allow you 2 weeks vacation a year where you pay half price

Spin off to Childcare post - cost?
I will be paying $1405 a month. That is 5 days, 7:30-6:30. Would have been $1365 but I had to pay extra to drop her off at 7:30 instead of 8am.

Same here. Our three days are Monday, Wednesday, Friday.
My mom does Tuesday and Thursday.
DH teaches so when he is off we don't pay - they deduct the vaca days from what we pay as long as we give them notice. I can always give plenty of notice because the school calendar is set way in advance. So, I know in August what he has off for the year pretty much.
We don't do it in the summer either. DS starts in January so it'll be from January until the end of June. Six months is roughly $4,800. I pay in one shot because my place gives you a discount of 5% off if you pay the total upfront in one shot. Anything to save a little money! :)

Re: Spin off to Childcare post - cost?
Our daycare was almost $400/wk from 8-5. We are interviewing nannies for #3 and it is going to be more than $800/wk.

Spin off to Childcare post - cost?
It cost $1100 for DS to be in daycare from 8-5 4 days a week. Once he turned 3, that amount went down a whopping $40 to $1060.
I'm guesstimating that when LO is born, daycare will be $2000 a month for us in total as we'll get another discount for DS#1 when another baby goes in. This is also assuming my MIL is ready willing and able to watch 2 on her "work from home" day and we don't need to put 1 or both in for 5 days a week.

It's in her home, but the basement looks like a daycare. That includes breakfast lunch and snacks.
