Spin Off to Hurricane Sandy
We don't do anything. We always have an abundance of food in the house. We have nothing to secure outside and we always have water in the fridge. So not a thing.

We arent really doing anything. Just doing my normal shopping on Sunday. Getting a few bottles of wine just in case we are stuck in the house for a few days.

Re: Spin Off to Hurricane Sandy
I go to the grocery store on Sundays for the week. I don't have another adult at home so I have to make sure that I have what I normally would need and don't need to "run out" with 2 small kids.
However, I don't see why anyone thinks they would be stuck in their house for more than a day. It's not 3 feet of snow that's in the forecast!!! From what they are saying it sounds like by late Monday rush hour, it's not safe to drive or be out, and all day Tuesday it will be stormy, but other than that what is the issue with stocking up on stuff???

I was thinking the same thing. Why all the food? If anything we may be stuck inside for 2 days.

You may not be stuck in your house but the point is that once the storm passes, if there are downed trees blocking the roads you may not be able to get anywhere and even if you can, the stores may be closed or without power.

Spin Off to Hurricane Sandy
We are pretty well stocked in terms of food. I shopped yesterday and just did my normal run so I hope the fresh stuff doesn't go bad. I hate buying bottled water. We have a few gallons that I bought for last year's storm so that's still in the basement. We'll fill up our water bottles and some pots with extra water as well. DH is cleaning up the yard which needed to be done anyway. We caught up on laundry and we'll make sure we find all of our flashlights, some candles, and a radio. We also have a crank powered radio/charger thingy...not sure what else it does. We'll take out cash and maybe top off the gas tanks.
