spin-off to my other post - those over 35 who did the ultrascreen, please come in...
What were your odds of Down Syndrome and how did you proceed after finding out?
Mine came back 1 in 206 and I really do not want to do an amnio. Honestly, I cannot say I'd 100% not terminate (don't want to expand on that right now). Just curious if maybe a genetic sono is my best next step or should I just say that my odds are still pretty good. I calculated a 0.48% chance, less than 1/2 %.
Thanks!!

That's about right for someone your age. My odds were actually very good after the ultrascreen, it was after the AFP/Quad Triple Screen that my Dr became concerned. We had at that point opted NOT to have an Amnio for a variety of reasons. So, at the suggestion of my Dr. We moved the anatomy scan up to 18 weeks rather than 20 weeks to check for any markers for DS, and we would take it from there. Well... the anatomy scan indicated 3 "soft" markers.. 1 of which was VERY soft. Due to those results, we opted for the peace of mind and did the amnio, because the genetic counselor and the Dr. told us our odds went to 1:50 based on the ultrasound. We would not have terminated the pregnancy though, but just wanted the peace of mind and to be prepared if DD did have Down Syndrome.

That is the number they start with when you are over 35. I don't think that is increased risk.

Re: spin-off to my other post - those over 35 who did the ultrascreen, please come in...
I am 41 ...
Down's for my age is 1 in 65 My U/S was 1 in 498
Trisomy 18/13 for may age is 1/119 My U/S was 1 in 2,361
I knew I didn't want an amnio so I opted for the Modified Sequential and Genetic Sonogram at 16 weeks just to have the extra screening and it came back fine.

Thanks ladies, I might opt for the genetic scan. Does that replace the Level II?

No, it's in addition to the Level II.
Had the U/S at 12w Modified Screen/Genetic scan at 16w (they draw a vial of blood) Level II at 20w
