Spin off to whole milk- What are you dairy free moms doing
for "milk" fats, and calcium? We were on almond milk but the ped said that it's not a milk substitute because it lacks protein. She said she wouldn't give a suggestion as to what to give him until he goes for his allergy blood work, which is soon, but he can absolutely not have milk because his entire face and neck breaks out in an itchy rash. Same happens for yogurt so I'm at a loss as to what to give him right now.

I'm not a milk-free mom, but my kids love avocado and that's high in good fat. salmon is also good for fats, as is high quality olive oil. i make an avocado tomato salad with olive oil that the family loves.

Olive oil and avocado are great for fats. DD1 never liked drinking milk (but will eat yogurt and cheese) so we also give her calcium fortified OJ. Broccoli and leafy greens (spinach, kale) are also great calcium sources.
Our GI and Allergist have us keeping DD2 on formula longer than a year, switching from Neocate to Neocate Jr and advised us to try a sippy cup with it.
