Milk Allergy moms ...starting Dairy products
Ok...SO....Our Gastro is not happy with Chloe's weight and really wants to just go gung ho about introducing milk/cheese products hoping they will add weight and he said he has no restrictions.
So he said start cheeses, yogurt , mashed potatoes with milk etc.
I'm SCARED.
Did anyone try and their DC have a reaction? If so, what kind of reaction? TIA!!!

Can you start her on a little and up it? What about soy products? Do they have enough fat?

From what our Ped told us, soy is not a sufficient replacement.
I would start with small amounts of yogurt if you can, since the probiotics help. Then slowly introduce milk, and look for any adverse reactions.
ETA, if that does not help, ask exactly what the Dr is looking for; fat or protein to be added & go from there. There are other sources of both.

Re: Milk Allergy moms ...starting Dairy products
I haven't gotten there yet with DD, but the proteins and lactose in cheese and yogurt and butter are different than straight-up milk so start out with a little of those and see how it goes. My sense is you'll know pretty quickly if she's outgrown her issues or not. I've been feeling braver lately myself and am thinking about adding butter to a few of her meals just to see what happens and maybe open up the door to wean off of Alimentum and move onto Gentlease or something else a little less broken down than Alimentum... but I'm pretty torn about this myself so who knows...
