Spin-off Tummy Time - BTDT Moms?
DS is 3 1/2 mo old and absolutely refuses tummy time. When we first started doing this with him, he would claw the mat and then within a minute fall asleep. It has now gotten to the point where if I put him down on his belly he screams. I try to put his arms in front of him and re=position him and distract him with toys but he will not be comforted until I pick him up. I see all these pictures (and videos on youtube) of babies his age (and younger) holding themselves up and it makes me sad. I mentioned it to the pediatrician 2 weeks ago and he looked at me like I was Is there something wrong with my boy?
He has neck control and he can sit up if I hold him which he much more prefers then being face first on the play mat. Will he eventually "get it?"

I wouldn't worry so much. My DS HATED tummy time too. He screamed every time we put him down. Since he was more mellow first thing in the morning I would always make sure I tried then. It usally lasted about 3 minutes if that before the crying came. Eventually he just started doing it. I would say it was around close to 5 months. Now at 7 months old its his favorite position to play and sleep in.

My DD hated it. I would have better luck getting her to lay on my tummy instead of the floor. It's not the same, but it's something.
I wouldn't worry too much about it either. You can make yourself nutty comparing your baby to other babies but as long as your ped isn't concerned, you probably don't have to be. My DD didn't even roll over until about 5 months, sat unassisted at 7 months, which I thought was late, but then she started crawling at 9mo, walking at 11mo and it's been nonstop since.

Yea, same for DD...it only lasts about 5-10 minutes at best.
They say to just do it for about 2 minutes throughout the day. Just as good
Eventually they will be all smiles
