Spinoff - Pooping on the Potty
A few questions:
How long did it take your DC to poop on the potty after you started potty training?
Do you have a boy or a girl?
How old were they at the time?
Did you have them in underwear or pullups?
If you had them in underwear what is the easiest way to clean up the poop? It's just torture.
Any tips to get them to go poop on the potty?

Re: Spinoff - Pooping on the Potty
I have a girl.
She has pooped on the potty, but now is asking for pull ups to poop in.
IDK what stopped her from going on the potty, but I know that she held it in once for 4 days. So I'd rather she poop in a pull up then get an infection.
She will be 3 next month. She started using the potty consistantly for pee about a month ago.
ETA: she has been in underwear for about a month. but uses a pull up at night.

Re: Spinoff - Pooping on the Potty
Ryan was 4 when we trained him.. he wasn't ready before hand.
He was afraid to poop on the potty and was holding it in. When he had to go and was all backed up, I had to literally make him sit on the potty until it came out.. not a pretty sight. All in all, he was pooped trained about 1.5 weeks after we started. I would just throw away any underwear that had poop or skidmarks... we only trained with underwear, no pullups.

i have a girl she was 3 in june and we trained her the day after her 3rd bday (6/20) she took to peeing on the potty instantly with almost no issues. we did underwear from the get go with pullups for naps and nighttime.
she would not poop on the potty for anything and frankly, looking back, i think it was b/c she truly didn't "get it". she was obstinate about it. this went on for about 3 weeks. she would simply poop right into her underwear i didn't do the pullups b/c i didn't want to go backwards since they are so similar to diapers. so when she would go in her underwear i would actually bring her to the potty and yes....unload it IN FRONT of her into the potty. i know this is gross...but i wanted her to see that the poop was supposed to go IN there. the poops were pretty dry luckily to it wasn't a mess for the most part. if they were bad then the underwear got thrown out and i cleaned her up bending over and not lying on the floor b/c that was too reminiscent of diapers. all the bribing in the world did nothing. then DH promised her some dora fish tank thing and that did the trick. she wanted that thing bad enough to poop on the potty. she did it-i think it clicked. she still went in her underwear a few times after but within the week got it and never had an accident again. sorry for all the gory poop details but just wanted to give you an idea. i was desperate for help while this was going on and thought it would take her months before she finally went on the potty. good luck! i know how frustrating it is!

A few questions:

We started actively training using the three day potty training method yesterday and he pooped yesterday, but not today.
Do you have a boy or a girl? I have a boy. How old were they at the time? He turned 3 at the beginning of the month.
Did you have them in underwear or pullups? For now he is just in a shirt. I think it is easier for him to feel that he has to go pee or poo this way.
If you had them in underwear what is the easiest way to clean up the poop? It's just torture.
We did underwear a few months ago and he pooped in them. I threw them out. It was beyond vile.
Any tips to get them to go poop on the potty? DS generally poops at about 4-5 pm so I am really watching him closely to see if needs to go. DS likes to hide under the dining room table. If I see him headed there I immediately make him go to the bathroom. For the past few weeks I have been rehearsing the phrase "don't pee on me and don't poop on me" and told him that the characters on his underwear don't want to be peed or pooed on. He seems to get that, but he has asked for diapers. I told him he was a big boy now and that he was not getting diapers. I feel like yesterday was proof that he can do it and now it is a battle. I so wish it was not this way and that he was easy to potty train. I am in the same place you are. Good luck!

My DD went through something similar- I think she had a very dry/painful stool because she'd been pooping on the potty and then refused.
Diana, I'd suggest not making a big deal if he has issues pooping on the potty- DH and I would lecture, cajole, bribe. None of it worked. She had to get past the fear of it hurting but I think it helped that we also left her alone and didn't make a fuss when she had an accident (definitely easier said than done.)
We got brave a few times and put her in panties- and honestly, the easiest thing to do when she had a poop accident was to just toss them. We probably threw out half a dozen pair but there was no way I'd want her to wear them again after a full load had been in there.

Re: Spinoff - Pooping on the Potty
p.s. home depot has this great toilet seat with the insert built in that you can flip up and down. i think this also helped DD feel really comfortable on the potty since she likes to flip it down and it is really secure and doesn't shift like the portable one does. hth too!

Re: Spinoff - Pooping on the Potty
Thanks everyone, all great advice.
I am not really stressing about the pooping yet, I really want him to focus on peeing. And, as gross as it is, I would rather him poop in the underwear rather then hold it in.
