Yes--I used to drive to Queens everyday. I needed to know how. I wish I knew how to do oil changes but you gotta crawl before you can walk lol

Re: Spinoff: Could you change your own flat tire?

yes, i know how....but if I actually needed to, I don't know if I could do it.

The first time I drove to Cortland to visit Rich in college, my Dad made me learn how to change a tire. I wasn't allowed to go unless I knew how. Google taught me how to do it. Chat Icon

Re: Spinoff: Could you change your own flat tire?

yep! I can change a flat, rotate the tires, change the oil. It was a drill my dad pulled on me at any given moment when I was young.

I am proud to say that I can, and have, changed my own tire! My dad sorta taught me how when I was a kid but then I ended up with a flat when I was in college and was forced to figure it out. And, I did it right! It's really not that hard once you know what you are doing.

ETA: I can also check and change my oil.

Re: Spinoff: Could you change your own flat tire?

nope- and I am glad to say I would never have too

my car has a button to press and they send help! the 2 times I needed my tires changed- they were here in 20 minutes! the first time the guy even took me to tire shop and neg. the price of a new tire for me (my SUV only has a dounut- which pisses me off- but it is what it is)

plus I have roadside assitance from Amex

there really isn't much of a chance of me at 5'2 jacking up my SUV anyway

Yes, I absolutely can. And even had to once, with a little help. My dad wouldn't let me get a car without knowing basics - like getting gas, checking oil, changing a flat, etc.

The good thing is now I don't "have" to - I just call DH or AAA. Chat Icon

Re: Spinoff: Could you change your own flat tire?

You bet! When I first got my license, my dad would not let me drive his cars until he taught me to change a tire. He took me out to the driveway and made me actually change them.

Since then I have had to change 3 flat tires and am darn proud of it!!! Chat Icon

Re: Spinoff: Could you change your own flat tire?

I know how to but actually never did it. I will most likely call roadside assistance before doing it myself.

Re: Spinoff: Could you change your own flat tire?

I can and have...I've also changed oil, brakes, air filters and recharged A/C system.
I don't change the oil on the truck - it's not worth it $$$-wise, but I do most of my own maintenance on the truck.

No. My uncle always wanted me to learn b/c he was always saying that he didn't want me to end up in some Silence of the Lambs situation by relying on some psycho stranger. However, I never did learn. I had AAA.

Re: Spinoff: Could you change your own flat tire?

Definitely not. Thankfully I've always been a member or AAA or had roadside assistance through the warranty of the car.

No. My tires weigh about 100lbs Chat Icon

I've had to call roadside assistance and even they had trouble changing my tire because of the lift/suspension and type of tires. I would definitely need a flatbed truck to help lift my truck b/c the jacks can't seem to raise it enough (even the specialty jacks we bought to accomodate the lift can't seem to get enough height.)
