yep me too

until you have been in a situation like I have been - it might be hard to see

it's easy to say you are against something when it doesn't directly affect you

i highly doubt a fruitjuice could cure cancer.

thats not their goal anywya.

cherries can be used to alleviate the symptoms of gout- so ya never know Chat Icon

they are using mice as test subjects - which isn't the most reliable indicator of how the same juice will affect humans.

Plus it isn't as though they simply induce illness and feed them POM juice to see if they are getting better - they cut these animals open and test the POM in the most inhumane and disgusting ways.

If an alternate is available, I can't support it.

exactly! i cant find any good in that! they are simply testing to purely make money. if they can torture animals to get at least ONE good thing they can say to further their product they will.

certain things are on the same level as cosmetics and such. i consider th Pom to be on the same level.... the level of an unnecassary test

i can see how ppl would defend the tsting for illnesses and such, but this is a juice. its not necassary. ppl are not goign to be prescribed Pom

Agreed - cosmetics, lotions, food, drink testing on animal is inhumane, unneccessary and superficial - IMO.

Some people find it so unbelieveable that we can obtain usable, accurate data using non-living, non-animal testing. Did you know that back in the day in order to ascertain if you were pregnant or not, they had to use a test that involved the death of a rabbit. I bet at the time the thought of a urine test was unheard of and yet now - standard practice.

I think that if more $$$ was put into finding alternatives to animal testing (Corrositex - 'synthetic skin' for example over burn testing of live animals), simply minimizing the number of animals kills, minimizing the evasiveness and pain involved in the procedures and making legal protocol on how these test animals must be treated (they are sentient beings, not trash to be abused) - this world would be a better place. Although the same goes for factory farming, but I digress....

for a couple of years before med school i was involved in research using mice. the ultimate goal of the research in my lab was to prevent the numerous complications associated with diabetes, which affects over 20 million people in the US alone. we chose mice because they are actually very similar to humans on the inside. we treated the mice according to the strict guidelines put out by the institution i was at.

as much as i learned, i was not a huge fan of being so directly involved with research on animals. and to be honest, the use of dogs and primates for research breaks my heart and i could never do it. but i do think that, in some cases, it is justified when there is the possibility of improving millions of human lives. and i would definitely take a medication or treatment that was developed using animal testing - makeup and cream is a different story.
