I had a serious scare with this.
I broke up with a guy I had been seeing for a couple months - it ended badly. He was supposed to be moving to Las Vegas and I didn't want a long distance thing.
About 3 weeks after we broke up he called to tell me he had tested positive for HIV.
I immediately threw up. And then I procrastinated on getting tested. 
It was one of those mental things where I felt like NOT knowing was better than knowing. I finally went and got tested and it was negative. Of course, then you have to go back 6 months later and it was still THANKFULLY negative.
But the kicker is that I saw him about a year later, working at a local bar. I went up to him and said - "You aren't in Vegas?" and he said, "No, and I never was going to - I was testing your loyalty."
Then I said "What about the HIV?" and he said "I don't have it...I wanted you to suffer."
And he WALKED AWAY FROM ME!! Into the back of the bar. I pushed my way into the employees only area and was SCREAMING at him and was promptly and physically removed from the bar.
Can you say PSYCHO???

Yes I've been tested several times because I find it reassuring. Plus with all my visits to theRE trying to get pregnant Ive been tested several more times...and since I became PG, I've been tested again. My hospital wont let you leave with your baby unless you get tested!!

Now it's a NYS manditory blood test while pregnant. They just passed this law a few months ago............

When she found out I had never had one, a few years ago (right before I met DH) my GYN gave me a full STD test and an HIV test.
