my son is 13 months, and i did not give him the mmr yet---i wasnt sure what route i was going---either delay or break it up.

we are going to punta cana next week, and now i am thinking of giving him the measles shot before...what are your thoughts on this>?

Re: spinoff-MMR

I never delayed or split up any of my childrens shots. Personally, if I were taking DC out of the country, I would make sure that all their shots were "up to date" as per my pediatricians schedule.

Have a WONDERFUl vacation! I am jealous!

Re: spinoff-MMR

we went to mexico when DS was 5 & 11 months and when DS was 9 months

neither of them had MMR at the time and I told ped before and he wasn't nervous. I would talk to your ped and see what he says

(both my kids got MMR at 12 months)

I think it is good that they have the shot if they are traveling - but everyone feels differently on this - but I'm not sure if you are going next week now is the time to get it - not sure how long it takes for them to get any immunity and if they are going to have a reaction it is usually 7-14 days after the MMR (this is what my ped told us and DD had a reaction on day 9).

Can you talk to your ped about this?
