SPINOFF of if your parents divorced when you were a child....
If you don't mind answering, did anyone on here have the experience of their primary living arrangement having changed from one parent's house to the other's? It seems that many of the people I know who lived at, say, dad's house then moved to mom's or vice versa feel very confused or feel that they were short changed.
I'm asking b/c a couple of friends of mine who were once married are considering switching the living arrangement to give it a try, see if the kid does better in school and for a few other reasons. It would mean a switch from living at mom's and having every other weekend with dad to living at dad's and having every other weekend with mom. I know some adults who went back and forth between their parents when they were growing up and they look back on it as a bad thing, the wrong decision on someone's part, etc. But each set of circumstances is so different so I do not know if everyone feels this way.
Also, are there any adult children of divorce here who did not have the same primary residence as their siblings? I'm referring to full biological siblings. Obviously if one parent has a child from another relationship, the half siblings may be split up.

my cousins lived in seperate homes at times, often seperated from each other. They also moved back and forth several times. They are all very resentful, and struggle for happiness. I do not know if that is related to their upbringing but it certainly seems possible

Not me, but when my BFF's parents divorced she was already a junior in high school. She had her friends, a boyfriend and didn't want to move. She ended up staying with her dad and her two younger sisters went with her mom. They are all amazingly close today. I think it was important for them to not have their lives change too much. But her parents also did an amazing job keeping the family super close.

My parents divorced before I knew any better, but we didn't do the whole switching on the weekends bit.
At best, I went to visit my dad for a long weekend.
When my cousin divorced, the kids stayed in the house and the parents traded off. Not sure how long that lasted but I thought it was really good for the kids.
