You are right, he may not have known his attacker but again, he was also Hassidic so he might have trusted him thinking he knew his family or something.

The murderer was Orthodox, but not Hasidic

I was wondering the same thing. I've read numerous articles, and never once did I read that the boy had autism.

Re: Spinoff of Missing Boy from Brooklyn

Whether or not he had autism, he clearly wasn't old enough to make that walk on his own. He got lost. He asked for help. That was a deadly mistake on his part unfortunately because he asked the wrong person for help. He trusted a stranger to help him find his home. He got in the man's car. There are so many things wrong with that picture... Stranger danger? Did he know it? I understand parents might commonly let an 8 or 9 year old walk home where they live, but the kid got lost!!!!! He didn't know where he was, asked for help, and that's why this happened! It's so sad.

I asked on Parenting....but is there no MINIMUM age requirement , -consent or not -to release a child without a parent/guardian present?

I'm not saying 8/9 is or isn't too young (for my comfort level, yes it is ) , but is there an age by law that IS ?
