What I do think needs to happen is more education about the other options that are available, particularly adoption. Like I said, millions are open to adopting a child that can't have their own. I understand that some people have a hard time getting attached to something for 9 months, giving it away, and having an offspring that they never know. I just have a hard time swallowing killing it, as opposed to allowing it to grow with a family that wants it. But again, you can't make it illegal. I just wish there was an easy middle road.
I completely agree with this. I wish more people would consider adoption, though I understand why women don't.
I actually hate giving myself a "label." I would definitely not call myself "pro-choice." I consider myself more "pro-life," but I am not for making abortion illegal because of the ramifications.
I honestly beleive that too many people see this issue as black and white and forget that there are a lot of gray areas in between. I honestly wish that young girls and women were never in a position where they felt they need an abortion. If we can prevent unplanned pregnancies, then we can prevent abortions.

I think being pro choice is being pro life.
If the choice is taken away, then what?
You may choose life or you may choose to have an abortion. See where I'm going with this?
If the govt. takes away anyone's right to choose, they call that communism I think.
There are so many intangibles that go into makeing a choice like this. Incest, rape, etc. I don't think the govt. has the right to tell a woman what she can or cannot do with her body.

I completely agree.

I am pro-choice if there is no other option. IMO there is no excuse for it to be used as a contraceptive device.
ITA, and I also don't think that I could ever have one.

Re: Spinoff to advertisement: Pro-life or Pro-choice?
Pro-choice!!!You CANNOT and WILLNOT stop someone if this is what a woman decides to do. I think it is human nature to do what one sets his or her mind out to do. In this case, by taking away the choice, you are sentencing someone to alternatives that are devestating on ALL accounts. And please don't reply with "Well, you are also sentencing a baby to devestating alternatives when you choose abortion." I think by taking away the choice, the nation of women will suffer in unimaginable ways. And on top of that...should my daughter ever feel that abortion was her only choice...well, I wouldn't want her only option to be a wire hanger and a friggin can of lysol.
ETA: And pro-choice is NOT to be mistaken for pro-abortion.

I am pro-life. I feel like the choice is made when you decide to have s e x, pregnancy may be a consequance, and every person having s e x knows that. Like others have said it really isn't a black and white issue. For example if someones life would be in danger that is a different cicumstance.

Re: Spinoff to advertisement: Pro-life or Pro-choice?
I am Pro ALL life. I am pro having people control their own lives in so much as they can.
I am pro not having a child born into a world unwanted and abused.
I am pro a woman that is raped/molested being able to terminate a pregnancy
I am pro a 16-year-old girl who made a mistake that could cost her the rest of HER life.
I am pro all the other kids awaiting adoption in this country, living in the "system" with very little hope of every finding a home.
I am pro having the ability to look at my options and not having to worry about people "THINKING" they know which of them I have and have not considered...
I am Pro sitting on the doctors table and feeling the growing being inside me and deciding I WANT IT.
I am PRO those that CHOOSE to do it, AND those who CHOOSE NOT to.
that is what being Pro choice is.
Pro choice IS pro life. There is no such animal as "pro death" IMO.

I agree, i'm pro-life. i am for it being illegal (except for maybe some very life threatening circumstances). I think if it were illegal, those unplanned pregancies would go down because the risk of casual s e x would be too great. it's a fall back for ALOT of people who don't think when having s e x. you'd be surprised of the % of people who have them because it was not the right time.
My mother started a home for pregnant girls on LI who have nothing, she now has 3 homes and these women have turned out VERY well. there are choices, abortion should not be one of them.
