Re: Spinoff to advertisement: Pro-life or Pro-choice?
I am 100%, unflinchingly, undoubtedly ProChoice.
I support a woman's right to CHOICE - whether it be abortion, adoption, abstinence. Ultimately, it is her body, her choice.
I do not believe it's a government issue...it is a personal issue.
I also believe that being ProChoice is being ProLife...I think the current political stance of ProLife is actually AntiChoice.

I am pro-choice. I don't like the term pro-life, it implies that pro-choice people aren't "pro-life" and I am 100% am, I just don't think life begins when the pro-life side does.

I am pro-choice. And I like to make it clear that pro-choice can mean pro-life, it doesn't necessarily mean you are pro-abortion. It just means that you think a woman should have the right to make that decision for her own body.

What I do think needs to happen is more education about the other options that are available, particularly adoption. Like I said, millions are open to adopting a child that can't have their own. I understand that some people have a hard time getting attached to something for 9 months, giving it away, and having an offspring that they never know. I just have a hard time swallowing killing it, as opposed to allowing it to grow with a family that wants it. But again, you can't make it illegal. I just wish there was an easy middle road.
I completely agree with this. I wish more people would consider adoption, though I understand why women don't.
I actually hate giving myself a "label." I would definitely not call myself "pro-choice." I consider myself more "pro-life," but I am not for making abortion illegal because of the ramifications.
I honestly beleive that too many people see this issue as black and white and forget that there are a lot of gray areas in between. I honestly wish that young girls and women were never in a position where they felt they need an abortion. If we can prevent unplanned pregnancies, then we can prevent abortions.
I completely agree with these statements. As with many things in life there is too much gray area.
I remember once in college this girl was telling me a story and mentioned her sister had had an abortion the night before. She mentioned it in passing as though it was no big deal. I was both shocked and appalled by this. To think of all the people who try so long to get pregnant and can't and then others easily get pregnant and abort the pregnancies without much thought. That is what troubles, people who use it as a method of birth control when it is not.

I am pro-life. I feel like the choice is made when you decide to have s e x, pregnancy may be a consequance, and every person having s e x knows that. Like others have said it really isn't a black and white issue. For example if someones life would be in danger that is a different cicumstance.
Pro-life and I completely agree! That being said, I also believe in a woman's right to choose but I would hope that abortion was the last option they would consider.

Re: Spinoff to advertisement: Pro-life or Pro-choice?
I used to be adamantly pro-choice until I miscarried 2 very wanted pregnancies and had to have 2 d&cs. Even though my babies were not living when the docs removed them with the procedure it still tore me up to know my babies were being taken from my body. The thought of anyone consenting for a doctor to do that when there is a living baby inside of them.... especialy now knowing I, and so many other women in this world, may never have the chance to have one.... lets just say my opinions and views have very much changed.

While I don't think that I would be able to have an abortion myself, I am pro-choice. Who am I to decide for other people what is right for them?
My thoughts exactly.

i know i am in the minority here, but i am pro-life and don't mind admitting it. i think it would be wrong for me morally and don't have a problem taking that a step further and saying that it's universally wrong like other things - assault, robbery, murder.
that being said, i do respect other people's opinions that are different than mine and don't believe that the fringe pro-lifers who do wacky stuff to protest are correct in their tactics.
I'm with you and agree with everything you said (very well)

Re: Spinoff to advertisement: Pro-life or Pro-choice?
Pro choice! And that means a woman's right to choose what is right for her body, whether is be abortion, having the baby or adoption.
I remember when I was 20, a friend of my 17 year old sister's got pregnant and decided to have the baby. We grew up VERY pro choice in my house and my sister was ranting about how her friend was ruining her life. My mom turned around and told her to congratulate her friend b/c she was sure not many people were and that is what CHOICE means.

exactly - i think a person's situation greatly impacts their opinion
however, while i'm not a proponent of abortion, it's not as simple as banning it
Banning it is only going to make the procedure worse.
There has to be more education about the ramifications of unprotected sex for teens. In addition, we have to break the barrier, so that young girls go to their parents or family or friends earlier, and get the education they need on the options available before making a decision.
They need to know that abortion isn't the only answer.

I think there also needs to be financial help for moms. I don't get pro-life people who aren't pro-maternity leave, pro-affordable day care.
Also, I don't see how what I think, or how I feel about my own body, gives me the right to tell anyone else what to do.

100% agree - we have to provide them with the options and financial flexibility, so that abortion isn't the only solution
