I had a great delivery too - all natural, drug-free, and very quick. It was pretty painless too - a little ouch here and there - but at my 6wk appt my MD explained what really happened to my body due to such a quick delivery - she didn't want to tell me when I delivered b/c she didn't know how it would heal - apparently, sometimes things almost rip off in such a case
I delivered in a teaching hospital and I had a doctor down there stretching my out. That is probably the only reason I was able to push a 10lb baby out in 3 pushes without an episiotomy.
I'm glad you felt good though.
They stretched you out? How does that work? The part of me that almost fell off couldn't have been stretched (nor did I think it needed to be). But I started contracted lightly at 6AM, go to the hospital at 10AM or later and was 9cm - 2 pushes and he was born at 10:24AM. My MD at the time, just said something "unusual" had happened !
They have their hands kind of in your va-jay-jay and pull you open. They did it with both my deliveries. I tore alittle with each because they came out with an arm raised.
Wow

Re: Spinoff to all the c-section threads for those who delivered naturally...
I delivered vaginally and have no regrets at all.. I was contracting for a couple days before I delivered so when I went to the hospital they gave me demerol which I gladly accepted. I knew it would be a while before the epi and the birth so the drug would have worn off by then.
I had a slight tear which didnt need stitches and was upo and about in no time!
ETA: "vaginally" not "naturally" lol

No regrets...within an hour I was on the phone chatting with friends and up and about walking. I felt great and had a good recovery.

The technique is called perineal massage, and it is something that pregnant woman can begin to do in the 3rd trimester of pregnancy, before they are in labor, to prepare their bodies for delivery. It does sometimes help you not to experience tearing.

Absolutely no regrets. I had a quick labor and delivery (5 hours start to finish) and felt great afterwards and was up and walking around an hour after delivery. I feel very blessed.

No regrets...I was up walking around and making phone calls 20 minutes after the kid was born. It was easy peasy lemon squeezy!

Same here. He definitely helped things along. I did tear naturally even still.
Luckily i never got stretch marks and i'm very happy with my delivery.

Re: Spinoff to all the c-section threads for those who delivered naturally...
I had both kinds of birth. First a c/s with my DS because he was breech. It was a very great experience overall with a quick recovery for me.
But when I was able to VBAC with my second, it was hands down a far better experience, without a doubt! I did have an epidural, and pushed for 3 hours, but no issues at all from the vbac birth. I got out of the bed, went to the bathroom, felt good enough to walk to my recovery room (they didn't let me ) and was home the next day - which was important to me with a 2 year old at home. I did not have an episiotomy, but I had a small tear that 2 stitches took care of and was back to normal in a few days.
