Spinoff to Applebees giving toddler alcohol - Olive Garden now..

The company that owns the Olive Garden restaurant chain has apologized and changed its policy on the way some drinks are served after a 2-year-old Lakeland boy was accidentally served sangria.

Nikolai VanHeest had nearly finished the drink in the green plastic Olive Garden cup, said his mother, when a waiter came over with a panicked look on his face.

She had ordered orange juice for her son, but the waiter told her the cup contained tropical sangria, said the boy's mother, Jill VanHeest. Sangria contains wine and fruit juices.

Moments later, a manager came over and apologized. VanHeest said no one offered to call an ambulance so she and her mother rushed the boy to Lakeland Regional Medical Center, where she says he was treated for alcohol poisoning.

The incident occurred March 31. When she hadn't heard from managers at The Olive Garden restaurant on North Florida Avenue in Lakeland, she contacted an attorney, who reached out to the media.

A 15-month-old was hospitalized after a behind-the-bar mix-up at a Michigan Applebee's restaurant that left the toddler sipping alcohol instead of apple juice.

Police were called to the Madison Heights restaurant on Friday evening after the parents of Dominic Wilson Jr. noticed their son acting strange during a family dinner.

"He was saying 'hi' and 'bye' to the walls," said Wilson's mother, Taylor Dill-Reese, 18. "He laid his head down like he was sleepy, then woke up and got really hyper."

Wow.

And to think people think we are strange because we taste EVERYTHING before AJ gets it.

Drinks - (if we dont just give her our own) because we prefer watered down juice for her so we want to be sure its watered enough but still tasty

Foods - Mostly for texture, temperature. Can she chew it or is it a choke hazard, is it too hot or gummy (she hates gummy)

We have to be SLY about it because she is very much a "Mine" kinda gal when it comes to food. But we do it. She's going to be 3 in august Chat Icon Here I am ashamed that I won't let me kid eat in peace. Stories like this make me feel a tad bit better about my craziness.

Sangria looks nothing like orange juice regardless of the cup its in.. besides most kids drinks come in kid cups.

The Apple Juice, I wonder what he got instead.

Glad both kids are alright and I'm sure a few folks lots their jobs over this.
