spinoff to body piercing on NFR. Would you mind if
your child decided to get a belly button or a tongue ring, or any other body piercing other than ears? I would def mind and be very against any body piercing (or tattoos for that matter) if my DD decided to get them(other than her ears) especially if she is under 18. I don't mean to offend anyone so please no flames. I have nothing against other people having any body piercings, DH has bunch of tattoos and has his ears pierced from when he was a teenager(never wears ear rings any more though) It's just something that I would never do and wouldn't want my DD to do either.

Re: spinoff to body piercing on NFR. Would you mind if
For some reason tongue rings or any piercings on the face would bug me alot. Belly button...not so much. In regards to tattoos, both DH and I have one so I wouldn't mind one or two IF they were over 18 and it was in a place that was not super visible.

nope. I have it/them and things like that would never bother me. I think he should be able to express himself the way he wants (shy of murder of course).

Re: spinoff to body piercing on NFR. Would you mind if
piercings would not bother me in the least. if they needed my permission i would not give it until they are in HS or around 14/15 years old.
however i would never agree to allow them to get a tattoo until they were 18 and could get one themselves. that is so much harder to get rid of i'd want them to really think about it before they did.

Re: spinoff to body piercing on NFR. Would you mind if
DH is against our boys getting their ears pierced. I guess if either of them wanted to express themselves with another type of piercing, we will have to cross that bridge when we get there. At 2 1/2 and 7 months, we have a little time

Re: spinoff to body piercing on NFR. Would you mind if
Well, being that I have a lot of piercings and a bunch of tattoos I'd be a hypocrite to tell my daughter she couldn't.
With that being said...she will have to be the appropriate age to get either done.
Ears...she can do what she wants with, with my permission. Other body parts...she'll have to wait.

Re: spinoff to body piercing on NFR. Would you mind if
My mom took me to get my belly button pierced when I was 16. She was dead set against it and it took a year to talk her into it. I would allow my girls to get that done when they are 16. I am not a fan (besides in the ear) of piercing so besides those 2 places they will have to wait till thy are 18. DH and I both have several tattoos and I could care less if my kids decided to get them, but they won't get them until they are 18.

Re: spinoff to body piercing on NFR. Would you mind if
For most body parts, a piercing would be fine by me. There are some issues with the tongue ones and teeth so I would say no to that. I wouldn't want him to get a tattoo until he is much older, long passed the age where he would need my permission.

DH has a lot of tattoos and I have some myself. I'm a fan of tats more than piercings. If my child was under 18, I would discourage it.

Re: spinoff to body piercing on NFR. Would you mind if
They'd have to be an adult to get anything pierced, other than ears ONCE.
Even after 18 I would discourage anything on their face (or in their face, like the tongue) because I know many people that have not been considered for jobs with those piercings.

Re: spinoff to body piercing on NFR. Would you mind if
At an appropriate age, I wouldn't mind either. I have had my ears pierced several time and had my belly button pierced. I would feel like a hypocrite. I think if DD was 15 or over, it would be ok. As for tattoos, definitely over 18.

Re: spinoff to body piercing on NFR. Would you mind if
I dont know if "mind" is the right word...
As long as they are doing it because they want to do it...then no I dont particularly have a problem with it..if they are doing it b/c all their friends have it...then I might have an issue...
They can wait until they are 18 too.

Re: spinoff to body piercing on NFR. Would you mind if
I might hate the way it looks, but I would let them. If I am lucky enough to have 2 smart, healthy beautiful kids who choose the right path in life getting pierced or tattoos would be the least of my worries

Re: spinoff to body piercing on NFR. Would you mind if
Outside of earrings for her ears, DD will need to wait until she is 18 to get any tattoos and piercings and even then I would discourage her because I think that is still too young.
Though I don't really care for tattoos or piercings, I don't have anything against them on others if that is how they choose to express themselves.
However, some of these things are permanent and I would prefer she wait until she is an adult and can really appreciate that fact before she makes any decisions.
There were many things that seemed like a good idea when I was 15 and now, not so much.

Re: spinoff to body piercing on NFR. Would you mind if
Ears-ok. Belly-we could deal with if we have to have that battle, but I would rather her not.
Tongue, face or other private body parts piercings & tattoos-no way while we are still supporting her.

Nope. I resented my parents being mad at me. If he wanted to do it, I would want to make sure he got it a reputable and clean place. My stepdaughter just got a tattoo - DH didn't mind.

I am against it for boys and girls. I hope gets pierced ears, but that is IT!
Maybe the fad will be over by then.

Re: spinoff to body piercing on NFR. Would you mind if
i have no problem with it.... they cannot get tattoos though until they are 18.
if they want piercings they can get them wherever they want, and if they want it before 18 i will sign for them at 15, but no earlier..
i had 27 piercings (NOT including the typical ear ones) and i have 12 tattoos.
BTW i am 35 and my first "odd" piercing was at 17, before the "fad"

Re: spinoff to body piercing on NFR. Would you mind if
I was about 15 when I pierced myself for the first time! IMO if they want to do it bad enough they will. I remember trying to hide my nose ring. It was very very painful taking it out when my parents were around. I'd say I'd be ok with piercing at 16 by a professional but I don't think my DH would! I also would probably make them wait until they were about 12 for earrings. Hopefully DC will get DH's genes and I won't have to worry about this.

Re: spinoff to body piercing on NFR. Would you mind if
If a child wants bad enough they will do without my consent, I got a tatoo and pierced my eyebrow when I was younger and my father forbid it.. I just hid from him. I lasted 2 weeks with they brow ring until my sis noticed and ratted me out.
I will tho tell my son (if i have one) NO EARINGS..
