spinoff to cars: Is there a car, not suv or minvan, that would fit three car seats/toddler seats? Just curious.
we have a minivan and a tahoe. I feel families with three kids are always stuck getting a big truck. And the gas is killing us.

I don't know of any car that I'd put 3 car seats in.
IMO, I wouldn't feel safe putting 3 car seats in a car to begin with. I feel VERY safe in my big gas guzzler. lol

I fit an infant seat (facing backwards), a Marthon (facing forward) and a backless booster in my Pontiac Vibe a few years ago when I had one. While they fit, it was a HUGE PITA to get the infant car seat in the middle and such. I loved that car, and it gets excellent gas mileage. However, if I had 3 kids, I would prefer a truck with a 3rd row seat.

Keep in mind that even if a car has 3 seat belts, or even 3 LATCH points, it may not be designed to handle 3 seats. My PT Cruiser has 3 sets of LATCH clips, but the manual explicitly states that you can either use the center OR the ends. You can't use the center with either one of the end seats.

they do exist, there was a woman in my day care last year with triplets (age 3) and she had 3 car seats in the back of a car. I dont remember what type though. Sorry.

Yes. You cannot use the same latch for 2 different carseats.
For example, If you have 4 latches (one by the right seat, 1 in the "right"center, 1 in the "left center" and 1 on the left seat by the door) you cannot have 3 carseats. The center latches CANNOT be used by the center carseat AND the side carseats. You would need 6 latches to have 3 carseats.
The carseat guy told us that.

Yeah I have a tahoe too.. and the gas is ridiculous!! My parents used to have Mazda CX7 and now they have a Ford Edge. After they got the Edge, Mazda came out with a CX9 and I believe that has a third row. Its a crossover but its still not too big.
Other than that, a station wagon

Some SUV backseats are smaller than cars so I'm sure there are some out there! I know my Aura has a roomier backseat than a Vue (both Saturn) These are great sites with a lot of carseat information on it

I was thinking a wagon, too. I want the Volvo cross country wagon. I also like the Audi wagon.

The new Ford Taurus X has a wagon with a roomy 3rd row. It is really nice. Also the Chrysler Pacifica.

Our GMC Acadia has very roomy 3rd row seat for adults so you can def fit 3 carseats.

My brother got the GMC Acadia which is a crossover....it gets slightly better gas mileage and has the third row seat. It says it gets 16/24 for FWD 16/22 AWD Image Attachment(s):

The stats are dead on. We are getting 16/22-24 for our AWD Acadia.

My point was that if you have 3 sets (6 total clips, one pair each for 3 seats), you still may not be able to have 3 seats in the back seat. I have 6 clips in my back seat, but the owner's manual says I cannot have 3 seats in the car.

The rules for the LATCH system are different than the seatbelt rules in each car. My car doesn't allow 3 seats no matter how they are attached. Some cars will probably allow 3 seats with the seatbelts, but not the LATCH.

PT Cruiser. Definitely way to small to even attempt 3 car seats. There is about a foot, maybe less, between DC's seats.
